## How to design a typed Jev ticket router in Claude Code with Building with Typesafe Jev

Repo: [aaddrick/building-with-typesafe-jev](https://github.com/aaddrick/building-with-typesafe-jev) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Install the skill in Claude Code so it writes Jev routing code with typed questions.

**Who it is for:** A developer who wants to route support tickets or incoming requests with Jev and uses Claude Code in the terminal.

**The problem:** A plain chat model has no sense of how Jev works, so generated code tends to ask for text instead of typed answers.

**The outcome:** Claude Code writes a Jev routing function that uses Choice, Score, or Noul questions and cites a matching prior-art shape.

### Steps

1. Run `claude plugin marketplace add aaddrick/building-with-typesafe-jev`
2. Run `claude plugin install building-with-typesafe-jev@building-with-typesafe-jev`
3. Start a new Claude Code session in your project folder.
4. Describe the routing job, such as sending each ticket to billing, shipping, or support, and ask for a Jev-based function.
5. Review the code and confirm each question uses Choice, Score, or Noul as described in the skill.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the building-with-typesafe-jev skill in this repo, write a Python function that routes a support ticket to billing, shipping, or support using a Jev Choice question. Show the function and the prior-art shape it follows. Verify that the question names the ticket field it reads.
```

### Caveat

The skill is unofficial and community-made, and TypeSafe AI does not review or endorse it, so check its code against the official docs before production use.

## How to build a Jev pull request grader in Codex with Building with Typesafe Jev

Repo: [aaddrick/building-with-typesafe-jev](https://github.com/aaddrick/building-with-typesafe-jev) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Install the skill in Codex to build a Score-based check that grades pull requests.

**Who it is for:** An engineering lead who wants an automated first pass on pull requests and works in Codex.

**The problem:** Asking a model for a free-text verdict gives results that are hard to threshold or compare across runs.

**The outcome:** Codex builds a Score question on a scale from the spec being ignored to the spec being met, with a threshold that sends weak pull requests to a human.

### Steps

1. Run `codex plugin marketplace add aaddrick/building-with-typesafe-jev`
2. Run `codex plugin add building-with-typesafe-jev@building-with-typesafe-jev`
3. Start a new Codex thread so the skill can load.
4. Ask Codex to build a pull request grader that uses a Jev Score question and flags low scores for human review.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In this repo, use the building-with-typesafe-jev skill to write a script that sends a pull request diff and its spec to Jev as a Score question on a described scale, then flags results below a threshold. Show the question text and the threshold. Verify the script handles the Score result as a value on the scale you defined.
```

### Caveat

The skill gives design guidance only, so the grader still needs its own tests and a human check on flagged results.

## How to check Jev designs against the live API with Building with Typesafe Jev

Repo: [aaddrick/building-with-typesafe-jev](https://github.com/aaddrick/building-with-typesafe-jev) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Store a TypeSafe API key so the agent can test its Jev code before it reaches your project.

**Who it is for:** A developer whose agent keeps using wrong Jev field names or misreading questions and who wants a live check before code lands.

**The problem:** Without a live check, mistakes in field names and question wording only show up after the code runs.

**The outcome:** The agent calls the live Jev API to test its design, catching wrong field names and questions Jev reads differently than intended.

### Steps

1. Sign in at console.typesafe.ai, open API Keys, click Create key, and copy the key when it is shown.
2. Save the key to a private file and load it in your shell using the steps for your system in the README.
3. Run `echo ${#TYPESAFE_API_KEY}` in a new terminal and confirm it prints a number greater than 0.
4. Ask your agent to run the same echo command, then start the Jev design task.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the building-with-typesafe-jev skill, write a small Jev call for <target task> and test it against the live API using TYPESAFE_API_KEY. Report the response and any field-name errors. Verify that the agent printed the key length only and never the key itself.
```

### Caveat

Each live call costs a fraction of a cent, according to the README, so keep test runs small.

Risk, credentials: The TypeSafe API key grants access to your account, so store it only in the private file the README describes and never paste it into a chat.

## How to install the Jev skill in Muse with one command with Building with Typesafe Jev

Repo: [aaddrick/building-with-typesafe-jev](https://github.com/aaddrick/building-with-typesafe-jev) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Run the Muse install script from a Muse chat to add the skill to Muse.

**Who it is for:** A Muse user who wants Jev design guidance available in every new Muse chat.

**The problem:** Muse loads skills from a fixed folder, and the skill needs a header rewrite to load there.

**The outcome:** The skill folder is copied into the Muse workspace and loads when a Jev task starts in a new chat.

### Steps

1. Paste `curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/aaddrick/building-with-typesafe-jev/main/scripts/install_muse.sh | bash` into a Muse chat and ask Muse to run it.
2. Start a new Muse chat once the script finishes.
3. Ask Muse for a Jev task to confirm the skill loads.
4. To update later, run the same command again.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Ask Muse to run the install script from the building-with-typesafe-jev repo, then confirm the skill folder exists under ~/workspace/skills/. Report the folder path and whether the SKILL.md header was rewritten. Verify the install by starting a new chat and asking a Jev design question.
```

### Caveat

The script is maintained by the community author, not by TypeSafe AI, so review it before running it on a machine that holds other work.

Risk, remote script: The command downloads a shell script from GitHub and pipes it straight into bash, so read the script first if you do not trust the source.
