# AI use cases for Video Agent (agent-next/video-agent)

Repo: [agent-next/video-agent](https://github.com/agent-next/video-agent) | Use cases: 3 | Page: https://dedupedai.com/use-cases/agent-next-video-agent/

OpenVideo is an Ollama-style CLI for running the MiniMax H3 video model locally on your own NVIDIA GPU through ComfyUI, plus a skill that lets coding agents plan and generate video.

This file holds every use case of this repo. Each one starts with a "## " heading and ends with its URL.

## How to generate short videos locally on your own GPU with Video Agent

Repo: [agent-next/video-agent](https://github.com/agent-next/video-agent) | Difficulty: Advanced | Time: 2 hours | Basis: From the README

Install, pull the H3 weights and run a text prompt to an MP4, Ollama style.

**Who it is for:** A developer who wants text-to-video without per-clip cloud fees.

**The problem:** Hosted video models charge per clip and keep your prompts.

**The outcome:** An MP4 rendered on your own NVIDIA GPU from a text prompt.

### Steps

1. Clone the release with `git clone --depth 1 --branch v0.1.0 https://github.com/agent-next/video-agent`
2. Install the engine and weights with `bash scripts/install.sh`
3. Check health with `open-video status`
4. Generate with `open-video run "waves at sunset, golden hour" --duration 10 --model h3 --output out.mp4`

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Install agent-next/video-agent v0.1.0, run `open-video status`, then generate <prompt> with `open-video run` for 8 seconds. Report the output path and confirm the MP4 plays and matches the requested duration.
```

### Caveat

The install downloads about 54 GB of weights, and v0.1.0 supports only MiniMax H3.

## How to plan and validate a video prompt without spending GPU time with Video Agent

Repo: [agent-next/video-agent](https://github.com/agent-next/video-agent) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Use dry-run to plan and validate a prompt against H3 constraints before you render.

**Who it is for:** A creator iterating on prompts on a laptop before running them on a GPU box.

**The problem:** Bad prompts waste long GPU renders.

**The outcome:** A validated plan for the prompt with no GPU spent.

### Steps

1. Clone the repo and install with `pip install -e .`
2. Run `open-video "sunset waves" --dry-run`
3. Adjust the prompt until it validates
4. Run the final prompt on the GPU machine

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
With agent-next/video-agent, dry-run <prompt> using `--dry-run` and report any validation errors. Confirm no GPU job was started.
```

### Caveat

On macOS the clone supports setup and dry-run, but H3 generation there is not the default path.

## How to let a coding agent write, check and render a video with Video Agent

Repo: [agent-next/video-agent](https://github.com/agent-next/video-agent) | Difficulty: Advanced | Time: 1 hour | Basis: From the README

Point your agent at the h3-video skill so it crafts the 3-field prompt, validates it, generates and reviews.

**Who it is for:** A developer who wants an agent to produce b-roll or demo clips for a project.

**The problem:** Writing prompts in the exact format a video model expects is fiddly.

**The outcome:** An agent-made clip that passed prompt validation and a review step.

### Steps

1. Install OpenVideo and pull the H3 weights
2. Point your agent host at skill/h3-video/SKILL.md
3. Ask the agent for a clip with a concept and duration
4. Review the clip and the prompt it used

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Load the skill/h3-video/SKILL.md skill from agent-next/video-agent and generate a clip of <concept>. Return the prompt you used and confirm it passed validation before rendering.
```

### Caveat

Use `open-video recommend-quant` first; only the 22 GiB and above INT8 tier is installed by pull.
