# AI use cases for MCP for Blender (ahujasid/mcp-for-blender)

Repo: [ahujasid/mcp-for-blender](https://github.com/ahujasid/mcp-for-blender) | Use cases: 3 | Page: https://dedupedai.com/use-cases/ahujasid-mcp-for-blender/

MCP for Blender (formerly blender-mcp) connects Blender to any LLM through the Model Context Protocol. A Blender addon runs a socket server and an MCP server connects it to Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code and others, so the AI can create and modify objects, apply materials, check its work with multi-angle views and renders, run Blender Python and pull in Poly Haven, Sketchfab and Poly Pizza assets or AI-generated 3D models.

This file holds every use case of this repo. Each one starts with a "## " heading and ends with its URL.

## How to build a 3D scene in Blender from a text prompt with MCP for Blender

Repo: [ahujasid/mcp-for-blender](https://github.com/ahujasid/mcp-for-blender) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 20 minutes | Basis: From the README

Run the one-command setup, open Blender and ask your AI app to build a scene.

**Who it is for:** A hobbyist or indie game developer who knows what they want but not every Blender shortcut.

**The problem:** Blocking out a scene by hand in Blender takes hours of menus and modifiers.

**The outcome:** Objects created, placed and given materials in Blender by your AI app, which checks its own work with views and renders.

### Steps

1. On macOS or Linux run `curl -LsSf https://www.mcp-for-blender.com/install.sh | sh` (or `uvx mcp-for-blender setup` if you already have uv)
2. Pick the MCP clients to set up; it adds a blender entry and saves a .bak of each config
3. Fully quit and reopen your AI app, then open Blender; the addon starts its server
4. Ask the AI to build a scene, for example a low-poly campsite at dusk
5. Ask for multi-angle views or a render to check the result

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using ahujasid/mcp-for-blender, build a low-poly <scene> in the open Blender file: create the objects, apply materials, set up a camera and light, then show me renders from two angles and list what you created.
```

### Caveat

Risk, remote script: The quickstart pipes an install script from MCP for Blender.com into your shell; use the manual uv setup if you prefer not to.

## How to connect Claude Code or Codex to Blender manually with MCP for Blender

Repo: [ahujasid/mcp-for-blender](https://github.com/ahujasid/mcp-for-blender) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Add the Blender MCP server to your coding agent with one command and install the addon.

**Who it is for:** A developer who wants a terminal agent to script Blender scenes and assets.

**The problem:** The automatic setup may not detect your client, or you want control over what changes in your config.

**The outcome:** Claude Code or Codex connected to Blender, able to run Blender Python and manipulate the scene.

### Steps

1. Install uv with the official installer
2. For Claude Code run `claude mcp add blender uvx mcp-for-blender`
3. For Codex run `codex mcp add blender -- uvx mcp-for-blender`
4. Install and enable the addon with `uvx mcp-for-blender install-addon`
5. Open Blender and ask the agent to run a small Blender Python task

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Connect ahujasid/mcp-for-blender to Claude Code, then write and run Blender Python that generates <procedural asset>, and show me a render of the result.
```

### Caveat

Code execution means the AI runs Python inside Blender; save your file first and use safe mode if you want to limit it.

## How to populate a scene with Poly Haven and Sketchfab assets with MCP for Blender

Repo: [ahujasid/mcp-for-blender](https://github.com/ahujasid/mcp-for-blender) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Ask the AI to pull textures, HDRIs and models from asset libraries straight into Blender.

**Who it is for:** An environment artist who wants a dressed scene fast for a mood board or prototype.

**The problem:** Searching, downloading and importing assets one by one slows down every prototype.

**The outcome:** A scene dressed with library assets or AI-generated models, imported and placed by the AI.

### Steps

1. Set up MCP for Blender with the one-command installer
2. Open Blender and describe the environment you need
3. Ask the AI to use Poly Haven assets, Sketchfab models or Poly Pizza low-poly models
4. Optionally generate a custom model with Meshy, Tripo, Hyper3D Rodin or Hunyuan3D
5. Check the placement with camera and wireframe views

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using ahujasid/mcp-for-blender, dress this Blender scene as <environment> with Poly Haven textures and HDRI and two or three Sketchfab or Poly Pizza models, then render a preview and list each asset and its source.
```

### Caveat

Check each asset's license before using it commercially; AI model generation may need provider keys or the paid Premium plan.
