Claude Code is an agentic coding tool that runs in your terminal, reads your codebase, and carries out coding and git tasks from natural language commands.

This file holds every use case of this repo. Each one starts with a "## " heading and ends with its URL.

## How to explain complex code in an unfamiliar project with Claude Code

Repo: [anthropics/claude-code](https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Ask Claude Code in your terminal to explain how a part of an unfamiliar codebase works.

**Who it is for:** A developer who has just joined a team and must understand a large existing project before changing it.

**The problem:** Reading unfamiliar code file by file is slow, and the parts that matter are often spread across many files.

**The outcome:** A plain-language explanation of the chosen module, its main flow, and the files involved, so the developer can start work sooner.

### Steps

1. Install Claude Code with one of the README methods, for example `curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bash` on macOS or Linux.
2. Navigate to your project directory.
3. Run `claude`.
4. Ask in natural language to explain how a named module or feature works, and to list the files it depends on.
5. Ask follow-up questions about any part that is still unclear.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Use Claude Code in the anthropics/claude-code-style workflow: open the project at <project-path> in the terminal, run `claude`, and ask it to explain how <module-or-feature> works, including the files it depends on. Expected output: a short written explanation naming those files. Verify by opening one named file and confirming the described function or flow appears there.
```

### Caveat

The README says feedback collected through the /bug command can include conversation data, so avoid putting secrets or private code in a session you plan to report.

Risk, remote script: The recommended macOS and Linux install pipes a script from claude.ai directly into bash, so review it first if your policy requires that.

## How to delegate routine coding tasks from the terminal with Claude Code

Repo: [anthropics/claude-code](https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Hand repetitive edits and small fixes to Claude Code using plain-language requests.

**Who it is for:** A developer with a backlog of small, repetitive changes that take time but need little design work.

**The problem:** Routine edits across a project consume time that could go to harder problems.

**The outcome:** Routine changes are completed by Claude Code in the project, and the developer reviews the results before accepting them.

### Steps

1. Install Claude Code using one of the README install methods, such as `brew install --cask claude-code` on macOS or Linux with Homebrew.
2. Navigate to your project directory and run `claude`.
3. Describe one routine task in natural language, for example renaming a function used across files or updating a repeated pattern.
4. Read the proposed changes in your project and confirm they match your request.
5. Run your own project tests or checks before you commit anything.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the project at <project-path>, start Claude Code with `claude` and ask it to <routine-task-description>. Expected output: the listed edits made to the project files. Verify by searching the project for the old pattern and confirming it no longer appears where it should be changed.
```

### Caveat

The README describes the tool as executing routine tasks in your codebase, so review each change yourself because the README does not describe how accurate those changes will be.

## How to handle git workflows with natural language with Claude Code

Repo: [anthropics/claude-code](https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Describe a git task in plain words and let Claude Code carry it out in your project.

**Who it is for:** A developer who wants help with commit and branch steps but prefers not to look up each git command.

**The problem:** Git workflows involve many steps, and remembering the exact sequence slows routine work.

**The outcome:** The developer describes the git outcome they want, Claude Code handles the steps, and the developer checks the resulting repository state.

### Steps

1. Install Claude Code with one of the README install methods, such as `winget install Anthropic.ClaudeCode` on Windows.
2. Navigate to your project directory and run `claude`.
3. Describe the git outcome you want in plain language, such as preparing changes for a commit on a new branch.
4. Check the resulting repository state yourself before pushing anything.
5. Use the `/bug` command if the workflow does not do what you asked.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the project at <project-path>, run `claude` and ask it to <describe-git-workflow-outcome>. Expected output: the git steps reported back in the session. Verify by checking the repository state in your own git client or terminal before pushing.
```

### Caveat

The README names git workflow handling as a capability but does not list which git operations are supported, so confirm the result yourself.
