Repo: [arronKler/pairfob](https://github.com/arronKler/pairfob) | Use cases: 5 | Page: https://dedupedai.com/use-cases/arronkler-pairfob/

Pairfob lets you control the coding agents running on your computer from a phone, tablet, or another computer, using the same live sessions over an end-to-end encrypted connection with no open ports.

This file holds every use case of this repo. Each one starts with a "## " heading and ends with its URL.

## How to pair your phone to agents on your computer with Pairfob

Repo: [arronKler/pairfob](https://github.com/arronKler/pairfob) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Install Pairfob once, scan a QR code, and open live agent sessions on your phone.

**Who it is for:** A developer whose coding agents run on a home or office computer and who wants to reach them from a phone while away from the desk.

**The problem:** Agent sessions stay on one machine, so checking progress or answering a prompt means walking back to the computer.

**The outcome:** Your phone shows the same live Herdr sessions as the computer, with no VPN, no port forwarding and no Pairfob account.

### Steps

1. Run `curl -fsSL https://pairfob.com/install.sh | sh` on the computer.
2. Run `pairfob pair` on the computer.
3. On the phone, open https://pairfob.com/pair and scan the QR code.
4. Press Enter once on the computer to admit the phone.
5. In the app, create a Terminal session to confirm the connection works.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the arronKler/pairfob repo, follow the Quick start in README.md to install Pairfob and run `pairfob pair` on this computer. Report the output of `pairfob list` showing one paired device. Verify that `pairfob` prints a running status before you finish.
```

### Caveat

The computer must stay awake and online, and Pairfob does not install agents or configure their accounts, so sign in to your agent on the computer first.

Risk, remote script: The quick start pipes a script from Pairfob.com directly into sh, so review the installer or verify it before running it on a machine you care about.

## How to answer agent prompts from your phone with Pairfob

Repo: [arronKler/pairfob](https://github.com/arronKler/pairfob) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

See which agents are waiting for input and reply to them from a phone.

**Who it is for:** A developer who starts long agent tasks and wants to unblock them when a prompt needs a decision, even when away from the computer.

**The problem:** An agent that stops for approval sits idle until someone sees it, which can stall work for hours.

**The outcome:** The Needs you strip lists waiting agents on the phone, and you open one to handle its prompt in the live session.

### Steps

1. Pair your phone using the pairing steps in the README.
2. Enable push notifications in the app if you want alerts.
3. Open the Needs you strip to see waiting sessions.
4. Open a waiting session from the list.
5. Choose Control or Chat mode and reply to the prompt.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the arronKler/pairfob repo, read the section 'What you can do from the phone' in README.md. Summarize how the Needs you strip and the Auto, Control, Terminal and Chat modes work, and name the one mode to use for a full-screen TUI such as vim. Verify your answer against the README text.
```

### Caveat

Push notifications and the Needs you strip depend on the phone app and an active connection, and the computer must remain online to receive your reply.

## How to review agent code changes on your phone with Pairfob

Repo: [arronKler/pairfob](https://github.com/arronKler/pairfob) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Read git status and diffs, comment on lines, and send the comments to the agent.

**Who it is for:** A developer who wants to check an agent's pending edits from a phone before approving or asking for changes.

**The problem:** Reviewing an agent's changes usually requires a laptop, and feedback on a diff is slow to relay.

**The outcome:** You browse files, read git status and diffs on the phone, and send line comments back to the agent in the same session.

### Steps

1. Open the workspace for the agent session in the Pairfob app.
2. Browse files and open git status.
3. Open a diff and select the lines you want to comment on.
4. Write the comment and send it to the agent.
5. Check the agent's reply in Chat mode.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the arronKler/pairfob repo, use README.md to identify which review features the phone app supports for git status, diffs and comments. Report that list as your output. Verify each item is stated in the 'What you can do from the phone' section.
```

### Caveat

The README describes the review features at a high level, so confirm the exact diff behavior in the app or the docs at Pairfob.com/doc before relying on it.

## How to send photos and PDFs to an agent from your phone with Pairfob

Repo: [arronKler/pairfob](https://github.com/arronKler/pairfob) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Upload files over P2P and insert their workspace paths into the agent draft.

**Who it is for:** A developer who has a screenshot, photo or PDF on the phone that an agent needs to read.

**The problem:** Getting a file from a phone to the machine running the agent usually means emailing or cloud syncing it first.

**The outcome:** The file reaches the workspace and its path appears in the draft, so the agent can open it.

### Steps

1. Open the agent session on the phone.
2. Choose the upload option and pick a photo, PDF or other file.
3. Wait for the upload to finish over the P2P connection.
4. Check that the workspace path is inserted into the draft.
5. Send the message to the agent.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the arronKler/pairfob repo, open README.md and quote the sentence that describes how files are handed to the agent. Output that quote and the list of file types the README names. Verify the quote matches the README exactly.
```

### Caveat

The README does not state file size limits, so test with a small file first if the file is large.

## How to check agent subscription quota from the computer with Pairfob

Repo: [arronKler/pairfob](https://github.com/arronKler/pairfob) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

List the quota each agent on the computer can report, and turn on Claude collection.

**Who it is for:** A developer on a paid agent subscription who wants to avoid hitting limits in the middle of a task.

**The problem:** Subscription allowance is spread across several agents and is easy to run out of unnoticed.

**The outcome:** You see which subscription quotas this computer can read, and the phone app can show that allowance.

### Steps

1. Run `pairfob quota list` on the computer to see readable quotas.
2. Run `pairfob quota-setup-claude` to enable Claude subscription quota collection.
3. Run `pairfob quota list` again and confirm Claude now appears.
4. Open the quota view in the phone app to check the numbers.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the arronKler/pairfob repo, run `pairfob quota list` on this computer and report which subscription quotas it lists and any reason given for missing ones. Verify the command output matches the list of agents named in the README's quota feature.
```

### Caveat

The README lists the agents Pairfob can report quota for but does not say which ones work on every computer, so `pairfob quota list` explains what is missing.

Risk, credentials: Enabling Claude quota collection reads subscription allowance from the computer, so confirm what the setup command accesses before running it.
