browser-use is an open-source Python library for AI browser agents that navigate websites with any LLM, plus an optional cloud with stealth browsers and a hosted agent API.

This file holds every use case of this repo. Each one starts with a "## " heading and ends with its URL.

## Browser Use tutorial: automate a web task with a Python AI agent

Repo: [browser-use/browser-use](https://github.com/browser-use/browser-use) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Give an Agent a task in plain English and an LLM, and let it browse to complete it.

**Who it is for:** A developer who wants to automate a repetitive lookup on a website.

**The problem:** Hand-written scrapers break when sites change.

**The outcome:** The task's final result returned from the agent's run.

### Steps

1. Install with `uv add browser-use`
2. Put OPENAI_API_KEY in .env
3. Create an Agent with a task and ChatOpenAI
4. Run it and print history.final_result()

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using browser-use/browser-use, run an Agent with the task <task> and print the final result. Confirm the result matches what the site shows.
```

### Caveat

Use non-sensitive sites first; agents act with whatever access the browser has.

Risk, credentials: Your LLM API key is read from .env and billed per step.

## How to give your coding agent a browser skill with Browser Use

Repo: [browser-use/browser-use](https://github.com/browser-use/browser-use) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Install Browser Use and register its skill so your agent can drive your browser.

**Who it is for:** A developer whose coding agent needs to check a web page.

**The problem:** Coding agents cannot see the web by default.

**The outcome:** A registered browser skill your agent can call.

### Steps

1. Install Browser Use with uv on Python 3.12
2. Run `browser-use skill install`
3. Connect it to your browser
4. Ask your agent to do a web task

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Install browser-use, run `browser-use skill install`, and have my agent open <url> and report <fact>.
```

### Caveat

If setup fails, the README points to the browser-harness install guide.

## How to run browser agents on cloud stealth browsers with Browser Use

Repo: [browser-use/browser-use](https://github.com/browser-use/browser-use) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Switch the Agent to a cloud browser for sites that block automation.

**Who it is for:** An automation engineer whose local browser gets blocked.

**The problem:** Local headless browsers trip bot detection.

**The outcome:** Agent runs on hosted stealth browsers.

### Steps

1. Get a BROWSER_USE_API_KEY
2. Set it in .env
3. Pass Browser(use_cloud=True) to the Agent
4. Run the task

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Run a browser-use Agent with Browser(use_cloud=True) for <task> and report the result and run duration.
```

### Caveat

Cloud browsers are paid per hour.

Risk, credentials: The Browser Use key bills cloud browser time to your account.
