# How to run voice generation on an older laptop with no graphics card with VoiceStudio

Repo: [debpalash/VoiceStudio](https://github.com/debpalash/VoiceStudio) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 45 minutes | Basis: Seen in the wild

Use the CPU build to clone and generate voices on hardware without a dedicated GPU, trading speed for access.

**Who it is for:** Student or hobbyist on an older laptop who wants to try local voice AI without buying a GPU

**The problem:** Most local AI voice tools assume an expensive NVIDIA card.

**The outcome:** A working, if slower, local voice setup on integrated graphics or an older PC.

## Steps

1. Make sure you have about 5 GB of free disk space.
2. Install with `curl -fsSL https://voicestudio.sh/install | sh` (or the PowerShell command on Windows).
3. Let setup install the small CPU build of PyTorch.
4. Generate a short test clip and note how long it takes.

## Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Install debpalash/VoiceStudio on this CPU-only machine and generate a 10-second test clip from <text>. Report the generation time and confirm the audio plays.
```

## Caveat

CPU mode is slower, Windows on ARM is experimental, and Intel Macs only run the UI against a remote backend.
