## How to answer Claude Code or Codex from your phone with Ovis

Repo: [devswha/ovis](https://github.com/devswha/ovis) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: less than 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Read the agent's chat, tap approvals and send replies to herdr panes from your phone.

**Who it is for:** A developer who starts long Claude Code or Codex sessions at a desk and needs to respond to them while away from it.

**The problem:** An agent stops and waits for approval or an answer, and you are not near the computer running herdr.

**The outcome:** You see the same agent session on your phone as a chat, tap to answer its approvals and questions, and open the live terminal when needed.

### Steps

1. Install the app on the computer with `curl -fsSL https://ovis.sh/install.sh | sh` (Linux or macOS) or `irm https://ovis.sh/install.ps1 | iex` in PowerShell (Windows).
2. With herdr running, open the address the installer prints, normally [127.0.0.1:7317](http://127.0.0.1:7317).
3. Open Phone setup in herdr or use the installer's QR code, scan it with your phone and add the app to your home screen.
4. Open a pane that runs Claude Code or Codex, then tap an approval or question card to reply.
5. Tap Terminal on the pane if a request has no card support and you need the live terminal.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the devswha/ovis repo, set up Ovis for the herdr workspace on <target computer> and confirm that the chat view of a running Claude Code or Codex pane loads at 127.0.0.1:7317. Report the pane name, whether approval cards appear and any step that failed.
```

### Caveat

Phone access needs Tailscale or another route to the PC, and the README says session contents are served to any browser you connect, so keep access limited to your own devices.

Risk, remote script: The Linux and macOS install command pipes a script from Ovis.sh straight into sh, so read it first if you do not trust that host.

## How to get push alerts when an agent needs you with Ovis

Repo: [devswha/ovis](https://github.com/devswha/ovis) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Receive a phone alert when an agent asks a question or finishes, even with the app closed.

**Who it is for:** A developer who starts a long agent task and wants to leave the desk without checking the pane every few minutes.

**The problem:** An agent pauses for input or completes work, and you only learn about it when you return to the screen.

**The outcome:** Your phone gets a push alert when an agent needs input or finishes, and one tap opens the pane.

### Steps

1. Install Ovis with `herdr plugin install devswha/ovis` if herdr 0.9.0+, Bun 1.4+ and Node 18+ are already present.
2. Set up phone access from Phone setup in herdr and add the app to your phone's home screen.
3. Allow notifications in the installed app when your phone asks for permission.
4. Start an agent in a herdr pane and leave the app open or closed.
5. Tap the alert when it arrives to open the pane's question or the finished result.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the devswha/ovis repo, configure push alerts for the Ovis install on <target computer>. Confirm that a test Claude Code pane that asks a question triggers a push on <target phone>, and report whether the alert opens the correct pane.
```

### Caveat

The README says installation and push alerts need a secure context such as HTTPS or localhost, so plain HTTP over a LAN is not enough for alerts.

## How to review an agent's repo changes from the browser with Ovis

Repo: [devswha/ovis](https://github.com/devswha/ovis) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Read working-tree, staged or commit diffs in the browser without changing the repository.

**Who it is for:** A developer who wants to check what an agent edited in a repository before committing or continuing.

**The problem:** Reviewing changes means switching to a terminal or editor and risks changing files by accident.

**The outcome:** You open the file browser, pick a working-tree, staged or commit comparison and read each file's diff in read-only mode.

### Steps

1. Install Ovis with `herdr plugin install devswha/ovis` or the install command for your system.
2. Open the address [127.0.0.1:7317](http://127.0.0.1:7317) in your browser.
3. Select the workspace that contains the repository.
4. Open the file browser and choose a working-tree, staged or commit comparison.
5. Open each changed file to read its diff.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the devswha/ovis repo, open the repository diff view for <target repo path> in Ovis and list each changed file for the working tree. Confirm the repository has no changes after viewing, and report the file count.
```

### Caveat

The README describes read-only diffs for files herdr can reach, so repositories outside a herdr workspace may not appear.

## How to dictate prompts to an agent by voice with Ovis

Repo: [devswha/ovis](https://github.com/devswha/ovis) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Speak into the chat or terminal line, review the text and send it to the agent.

**Who it is for:** A developer who wants to give longer instructions to an agent by speaking, including mixed Korean and English.

**The problem:** Typing long prompts on a phone or while away from the keyboard is slow and error-prone.

**The outcome:** You dictate into the chat or terminal line, check the transcribed words and send them to the agent.

### Steps

1. Install Ovis with `herdr plugin install devswha/ovis` and open it in your browser.
2. Open a Claude Code or Codex pane in the chat view.
3. Enter your own OpenAI key in Settings if you want that transcription provider, or use the browser's speech recognition.
4. Dictate into the chat box or the terminal line.
5. Review the words, then send them to the agent.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the devswha/ovis repo, enable voice input in Ovis for <target pane> using the browser speech option and dictate the phrase 'run the test suite'. Confirm the text appears for review before sending, and report which transcription provider was used.
```

### Caveat

The README says audio and polished text go to the configured provider, and browser speech recognition may use the browser vendor's service.

Risk, credentials: If you use the OpenAI transcription option, your own OpenAI key is stored and used by the app, so protect the key and the machine it runs on.

## How to watch agent panes on other PCs over SSH with Ovis

Repo: [devswha/ovis](https://github.com/devswha/ovis) | Difficulty: Advanced | Time: 1 hour | Basis: From the README

Add remote computers from the sidebar and manage their agent sessions in one browser view.

**Who it is for:** A developer with agents running on more than one computer who wants one place to check them.

**The problem:** Agent sessions are spread across several machines, and checking each one means a separate connection.

**The outcome:** Remote PCs appear in the sidebar over SSH, and you can open their panes alongside local ones.

### Steps

1. Install Ovis on the main computer with the install command for your system.
2. Open [127.0.0.1:7317](http://127.0.0.1:7317) in your browser.
3. Use the sidebar to add a remote PC over SSH, following the remote PC steps in the docs.
4. Open a pane on the remote PC from the sidebar.
5. Return to the local workspace and switch between panes.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the devswha/ovis repo, add the remote PC <target host> over SSH in Ovis and confirm that its herdr panes appear in the sidebar. Report the pane list and any SSH error.
```

### Caveat

The README notes that Windows terminals use a screen mirror with typing and a fixed grid until herdr supports terminal attach there.

Risk, credentials: Remote PC access uses your SSH credentials, so only add hosts you control and keep those keys protected.
