CC Switch is a desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux that manages the config of Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, OpenClaw, Hermes Agent and other coding CLIs. It switches API providers in one click from 90+ presets, can route requests locally with format conversion and failover, and manages MCP servers, Skills and Prompts in one place, so you stop hand-editing JSON, TOML and YAML files. The only official site is ccswitch.io.

This file holds every use case of this repo. Each one starts with a "## " heading and ends with its URL.

## How to switch Claude Code or Codex providers in one click with CC Switch

Repo: [farion1231/cc-switch](https://github.com/farion1231/cc-switch) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 10 minutes | Basis: From the README

Add providers from presets and switch which one each tool uses without editing config files.

**Who it is for:** A developer juggling an official plan, a relay and a cheaper model for different jobs.

**The problem:** Switching provider means hand-editing JSON or TOML and often breaking the file.

**The outcome:** One click to change the active provider for each tool, with your other settings left alone.

### Steps

1. Download CC Switch from the GitHub releases page (macOS users can use Homebrew)
2. Open the page for Claude Code, Codex or another tool
3. Add a provider from the presets and enter its key
4. Click to switch; only the endpoint, key and model change, and the original config is backed up first

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Help me install farion1231/cc-switch and set up two providers for Claude Code: <provider A> and <provider B>. Show me which config file it writes and where the first backup is.
```

### Caveat

Risk, credentials: Provider keys are stored by the app on your machine.

## How to add MCP servers and Skills once, sync them to every agent with CC Switch

Repo: [farion1231/cc-switch](https://github.com/farion1231/cc-switch) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Manage MCP servers, Skills and Prompts in one panel and choose which tools get each one.

**Who it is for:** Someone using Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI who keeps repeating the same MCP setup three times.

**The problem:** Every coding agent has its own config format and MCP list, so they drift apart.

**The outcome:** One list of MCP servers and Skills, synced to the tools you pick.

### Steps

1. Click MCP in the sidebar and add servers from templates, custom config or Import Existing
2. Toggle sync for each tool
3. Install Skills from the Skills page with one click
4. Keep per-tool prompts in Prompts; enabling one writes it to that tool's prompt file

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using farion1231/cc-switch, import my existing MCP servers from Claude Code, sync <server> to Codex and Gemini CLI too, and list which tools now have which servers.
```

## How to see token usage and spend across your coding agents with CC Switch

Repo: [farion1231/cc-switch](https://github.com/farion1231/cc-switch) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 10 minutes | Basis: From the README

Read usage and remaining quota on provider cards, and browse past sessions in a reading view.

**Who it is for:** A developer who wants to know what each agent is costing before the bill arrives.

**The problem:** Usage is scattered across tools and dashboards.

**The outcome:** Token use and spend per provider at a glance, plus readable session history.

### Steps

1. Open CC Switch and look at the provider cards for usage and remaining quota
2. Check the tray for balances
3. Open Sessions to see what each turn did and which step failed

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
With farion1231/cc-switch installed, tell me how to read last week's token use per provider for Claude Code and Codex, and which sessions used the most.
```
