# AI use cases for Claude Skins (hellosverre/claude-skins)

Repo: [hellosverre/claude-skins](https://github.com/hellosverre/claude-skins) | Use cases: 4 | Page: https://dedupedai.com/use-cases/hellosverre-claude-skins/

skins is a Claude Code plugin that redraws tool calls, diffs, tables, code, charts and math in themed cards, and lets you switch or design the look with /skin.

This file holds every use case of this repo. Each one starts with a "## " heading and ends with its URL.

## How to install skins and pick a readable theme in Claude Code with Claude Skins

Repo: [hellosverre/claude-skins](https://github.com/hellosverre/claude-skins) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Add the skins plugin, restart, and switch among fifteen built-in themes with /skin.

**Who it is for:** A developer who uses Claude Code daily and finds its default tool output hard to scan during long coding sessions.

**The problem:** Tool calls, edits and tables in Claude Code's default drawing are plain and dense, which makes it slow to see what Claude just did.

**The outcome:** Tool rows show icons and timings, edits appear as diff cards, and the chosen skin is applied in every new session.

### Steps

1. Inside Claude Code, run `/plugin marketplace add hellosverre/claude-skins`.
2. Run `/plugin install skins@hellosverre-mods`.
3. Restart Claude Code. The noir skin is on by default.
4. Type `/skin` to open the settings and preview skins with a live preview, or run `/skin list` to see every skin.
5. Run `/skin tokyo-night` or another built-in name to switch, and check that tool rows and tables now use the new colours. (inferred, check the README)

In Claude Code, install the plugin from the repo hellosverre/claude-skins by running `/plugin marketplace add hellosverre/claude-skins` and then `/plugin install skins@hellosverre-mods`, restart, and run `/skin list`. Report the list of skins shown and the one currently active. Verify that tool rows now show icons and timings.
```
### Caveat
The README says the terminal and desktop app were checked by hand on Windows, Linux was run, and macOS, VS Code and mobile were not looked at by hand, so results there may differ.
## How to have Claude design a custom skin from a short description with Claude Skins
Repo: [hellosverre/claude-skins](https://github.com/hellosverre/claude-skins) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README
Describe a mood in plain words and let Claude build and apply a skin you can keep.
**Who it is for:** A developer who wants a personal look for Claude Code and does not want to hand-pick every colour.
**The problem:** Built-in skins may not match the look someone wants, and setting each colour by hand takes time.
**The outcome:** Claude builds a skin from the description and applies it while you watch. Repainting a built-in skin saves it as your own my- skin.
### Steps
1. Make sure skins is installed and Claude Code is running (see the install steps).
2. Ask Claude in plain words, for example "make me a skin that feels like a sunset".
3. Watch the skin apply, then type `/skin` to adjust parts or repaint any colour.
4. Run `/skin list` to confirm your new skin appears alongside the built-in ones.
5. Run `/skin pin` in a project folder if you want that folder to keep its own look.
### Prompt to paste into your agent
```text
In a Claude Code session with the hellosverre/claude-skins plugin installed, ask Claude to make a skin that feels like <mood description>. Expected output: the skin is applied and listed by `/skin list`. Verify that the new skin name starts with my- when a built-in skin was repainted.
```
### Caveat
The README says the design tool gives Claude the ability to build and apply the skin, so the quality of the result depends on the description and on how much you then adjust by hand.
## How to read Claude's Mermaid charts and math as drawn cards with Claude Skins
Repo: [hellosverre/claude-skins](https://github.com/hellosverre/claude-skins) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README
Turn Mermaid fences and TeX math in replies into charts and typeset cards you can copy.
**Who it is for:** A student, engineer or researcher who asks Claude to explain a system or a formula and wants readable diagrams and equations.
**The problem:** Mermaid source and raw TeX in a chat reply are hard to read as a picture, and copying them out is awkward.
**The outcome:** Mermaid fences draw as charts and math draws as typeset cards, each with a Copy button.
### Steps
1. Make sure skins is installed and that the charts and math parts are on, which the README lists as on by default options in /skin parts.
2. Ask Claude to explain a process and include a Mermaid diagram, or ask a question that needs a formula.
3. Check that a ```mermaid fence draws as a chart card with a Copy button.
4. Check that $$...$$ or \[...\] draws as a typeset math card.
5. Run `/skin charts off` or `/skin math off` if you want Claude Code's own drawing back for either one. (inferred, check the README)
### Prompt to paste into your agent
```text
In Claude Code with hellosverre/claude-skins installed, ask Claude to explain <topic> with a Mermaid flowchart and a short formula. Expected output: the flowchart appears as a chart card and the formula as a typeset card. Verify that the Copy button is present on each card.
```
### Caveat
The README says the desktop app does not draw sequence, state, class and ER diagrams as charts and shows them as code cards instead.
## How to fold Claude Code's routine output to keep long sessions calm with Claude Skins
Repo: [hellosverre/claude-skins](https://github.com/hellosverre/claude-skins) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README
Turn on calm mode to remove motion and fold reads and searches into single lines.
**Who it is for:** A developer running long Claude Code sessions who gets distracted by animated spinners and a long stream of read and search rows.
**The problem:** Each read, search and shell command adds its own row, and the animation keeps pulling attention while Claude works.
**The outcome:** Output stays short: no motion, one line per tool row, read-only output folded, and failures still shown in full.
### Steps
1. Make sure skins is installed and Claude Code is running.
2. Run `/skin calm` to turn on calm mode.
3. Run a task that reads several files and check that the reads fold into one line.
4. If a command fails, check that its failure still shows in full.
5. Run `/skin calm off` to put back the drawing you had before. (inferred, check the README)
### Prompt to paste into your agent
```text
In Claude Code with hellosverre/claude-skins installed, run `/skin calm`, then ask Claude to review <target folder> for a bug. Expected output: reads and searches appear folded and failures appear whole. Verify by running `/skin calm off` and confirming the earlier drawing returns.
```
### Caveat
The README says the quiet output setting is off by default and the quiet part works on both the desktop app and the terminal, but the folding only reduces what you see and does not change what Claude reads.
