## How to map a paper's chapter structure through guided dialogue with Academic Research Skills

Repo: [Imbad0202/academic-research-skills](https://github.com/Imbad0202/academic-research-skills) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Use the /ars-plan skill to turn a rough paper idea into a chapter outline through Socratic questions.

**Who it is for:** A researcher who has a paper idea or data but no clear section plan yet and wants questions that force clear thinking about the argument.

**The problem:** Starting a paper from a blank page is slow, and an unstructured outline often hides gaps in the argument.

**The outcome:** A chapter-by-chapter paper structure that you have reviewed and confirmed, built from your own answers.

### Steps

1. Run `/plugin marketplace add Imbad0202/academic-research-skills`
2. Run `/plugin install academic-research-skills`
3. Run `/ars-plan` in Claude Code.
4. Describe the paper you are working on and answer the Socratic questions as they come.
5. Review the chapter structure ARS proposes and change anything that does not match your argument.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the repo Imbad0202/academic-research-skills installed as a Claude Code plugin, run /ars-plan on this paper description: <paper description>. Expected output: a chapter-level paper structure reached through Socratic questions. Verify that each chapter maps to a point in my own answers before accepting it.
```

### Caveat

The README says AI is a copilot and the author decides the question, method and claims, so treat the proposed structure as a draft to revise.

## How to produce a literature review on a topic in one command with Academic Research Skills

Repo: [Imbad0202/academic-research-skills](https://github.com/Imbad0202/academic-research-skills) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Run /ars-lit-review on a topic to get a single-shot literature review draft from the Deep Research skills.

**Who it is for:** A researcher starting work in a new area who needs an initial survey of sources before deciding on a research question.

**The problem:** Gathering and checking relevant sources for a new topic takes many hours of searching and reading before any writing starts.

**The outcome:** A literature review draft on your topic, with citations the Deep Research skills verify against the Semantic Scholar API, which you then check yourself.

### Steps

1. Run `/plugin marketplace add Imbad0202/academic-research-skills`
2. Run `/plugin install academic-research-skills`
3. Run `/ars-lit-review "your topic"` and replace the topic text with your own.
4. Read the draft and check each cited source against the original paper before reuse.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the repo Imbad0202/academic-research-skills in Claude Code, run /ars-lit-review on the topic <topic>. Expected output: a literature review draft with citations. Verify that every citation resolves to a real paper that supports the sentence it is attached to.
```

### Caveat

The README says bibliographic resolvers receive data from your machine, and the README ties citation checking to Semantic Scholar, so review the data flows in docs/DATA_FLOWS.md before using private material.

## How to import the five ARS skills into Claude Science with Academic Research Skills

Repo: [Imbad0202/academic-research-skills](https://github.com/Imbad0202/academic-research-skills) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Load the research, writing, review and pipeline skills into Claude Science from the GitHub repo.

**Who it is for:** A researcher who uses Claude Science rather than Claude Code and wants the ARS research and writing methods available there.

**The problem:** Claude Science has no direct way to use the ARS research and writing protocols without copying them by hand.

**The outcome:** The five ARS skills appear in your Claude Science skills list as a snapshot of the current release.

### Steps

1. Open Skills in Claude Science and choose Import from GitHub.
2. Paste `https://github.com/Imbad0202/academic-research-skills` and select Preview.
3. Select Import after the preview loads.
4. Re-import after each ARS update, because imports are point-in-time snapshots.
5. Note that slash commands, hooks and subagent orchestration do not transfer.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Import the skills from https://github.com/Imbad0202/academic-research-skills into Claude Science, then confirm that all five ARS skills are listed. Expected output: five imported skills. Verify that the imported version is v3.14.0 or later before relying on it.
```

### Caveat

The import carries only the methodology, so the Claude Code machinery such as slash commands and hooks is not available in Claude Science.

## How to get a multi-reviewer critique of a draft before submission with Academic Research Skills

Repo: [Imbad0202/academic-research-skills](https://github.com/Imbad0202/academic-research-skills) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 45 minutes | Basis: From the README

Use the Academic Paper Reviewer skills to get several simulated reviewer perspectives on a draft manuscript.

**Who it is for:** An author preparing a manuscript for a journal or conference who wants critiques from several angles before sending it out.

**The problem:** Getting feedback from peers takes weeks, and a single reader often misses the same weak points that reviewers would catch.

**The outcome:** A set of reviewer-style critiques with evidence-anchored judgements, plus a read-only review that leaves your draft unchanged.

### Steps

1. Run `/plugin marketplace add Imbad0202/academic-research-skills`
2. Run `/plugin install academic-research-skills`
3. In Claude Code, invoke the Academic Paper Reviewer skill and point it at your manuscript file. (inferred, check the README)
4. Read each reviewer critique and note which points you accept, reject or need to test.
5. Use the critiques to plan revisions in your own edits, since the reviewer does not change the draft.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the repo Imbad0202/academic-research-skills in Claude Code, run the Academic Paper Reviewer skill on the manuscript <path to draft>. Expected output: multi-perspective reviewer critiques with evidence-anchored judgements. Verify that the reviewer left the draft file unchanged and that each judgement cites a passage from the manuscript.
```

### Caveat

The README says current live reviews remain NOT_CALIBRATED, so the critiques should not be read as calibrated predictions of journal decisions.
