This file holds every use case of this repo. Each one starts with a "## " heading and ends with its URL.

## How to learn why a branch change is written that way with Diff Tour

Repo: [init-co-jp/diff-tour](https://github.com/init-co-jp/diff-tour) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Step through a git branch as a guided tour that explains intent, risks and what to check.

**Who it is for:** A developer who inherited a branch, or got one from an AI coding agent, and needs to understand the reasons behind the code before changing it.

**The problem:** AI can write code that works, but it does not explain why the code is written that way or what a reviewer would worry about.

**The outcome:** A step-by-step tour of the branch with the change's purpose, the files to read next, and questions to predict before the answers appear.

### Steps

1. Run `curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/init-co-jp/diff-tour/main/install.sh | sh`
2. Run `cd your-repo`
3. Run `tour`, press Enter twice in Setup the first time, then pick the current branch and press Enter
4. Wait 2 to 5 minutes while the tour is written
5. Press → to go forward and ← to go back, and q to quit

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the git repository at <path>, install diff-tour and confirm the `tour` command is on the PATH. Expected output: the path to the tour binary. Verify with `git status` that no tracked files changed.
```

### Caveat

The tour is written by an LLM you choose, and the README notes that the tour format and screens may still change in this early release.

Risk, remote script: The install line pipes a script from GitHub directly into sh, so read install.sh first if your policy requires it.

## How to tour uncommitted changes before you commit them with Diff Tour

Repo: [init-co-jp/diff-tour](https://github.com/init-co-jp/diff-tour) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Read your own uncommitted work as a guided tour to catch risks before others review it.

**Who it is for:** A developer or AI-assisted coder who has edited files and wants a second read on the change before it is committed.

**The problem:** Uncommitted edits are easy to skim past, and the reasons for risky choices are not written down anywhere.

**The outcome:** A tour of the uncommitted change, including untracked files that are not ignored, showing what to fix and what is fine.

### Steps

1. Run `cd your-repo`
2. Run `tour`
3. Pick the uncommitted changes from the list and press Enter (inferred from the README: uncommitted changes can be toured)
4. Wait 2 to 5 minutes while the tour is written
5. Press → and ← to step through, and q to quit

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the repository at <path>, run tour on the uncommitted changes and report which files the tour points to first. Expected output: a list of file names from the tour. Verify with `git status` that the working tree is unchanged after the run.
```

### Caveat

Only tracked files and untracked files that are not in .gitignore are sent to the LLM, so check that nothing sensitive is left unignored before you run it.

## How to reopen a saved tour without waiting for the LLM again with Diff Tour

Repo: [init-co-jp/diff-tour](https://github.com/init-co-jp/diff-tour) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Return to a change you toured earlier and open its saved tour instantly.

**Who it is for:** A reviewer who stepped away from a branch and wants to pick up the same tour later without paying the wait again.

**The problem:** Writing a tour takes 2 to 5 minutes, which is slow when you only want to reread it.

**The outcome:** The saved tour for the change opens right away, and you can keep stepping through it where you left off.

### Steps

1. Run `cd your-repo`
2. Run `tour`
3. Pick the same change from the list again (inferred, check the README)
4. Press → and ← to step through, and q to quit

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the repository at <path>, open the saved tour for the branch <branch> with tour. Expected output: the tour opens without the writing step. Verify with `git status` that the repository is unchanged.
```

### Caveat

The README says the finished tour is saved in your cache, but it does not say when a saved tour is refreshed, so a change made after the tour was written may not appear.
