# AI use cases for Bettercode (kerim0x1/bettercode)

Repo: [kerim0x1/bettercode](https://github.com/kerim0x1/bettercode) | Use cases: 4 | Page: https://dedupedai.com/use-cases/kerim0x1-bettercode/

BetterC0de is a beta desktop app that runs coding agents such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor Agent and Grok in one workspace with an editor, terminal, Git tools and browser previews.

This file holds every use case of this repo. Each one starts with a "## " heading and ends with its URL.

## How to review agent edits in Git and Diff views before committing with Bettercode

Repo: [kerim0x1/bettercode](https://github.com/kerim0x1/bettercode) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Open a project, let an agent change files, then inspect staged and unstaged changes in the app before you commit.

**Who it is for:** A developer who lets a coding agent edit code and wants to check every change before it enters Git history.

**The problem:** Agent edits land across many files quickly, and reading them in a terminal or chat log makes it easy to miss a bad change.

**The outcome:** You see each staged and unstaged change next to the conversation that produced it and commit only the changes you accept.

### Steps

1. Download the newest beta for your platform from the GitHub Releases page, expand Assets, and install it.
2. Open BetterC0de, connect a supported AI provider in Settings → Providers, and open your project folder.
3. In Editor mode, start a conversation and describe the change you want the agent to make.
4. Open the Git and Diff views and inspect the staged and unstaged changes.
5. Reject or fix anything you do not want, then commit the changes you have reviewed.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the BetterC0de repo's Git and Diff views, open the project at <project-path> after an agent has edited it. List every staged and unstaged file with a one-line summary of each change, and flag any change you cannot explain. Verify that the list matches `git status` run in <project-path>.
```

### Caveat

BetterC0de is an early beta, so review diffs carefully and keep a saved copy of your work before running agent changes.

## How to compare Claude Code, Codex and Cursor on one project with Bettercode

Repo: [kerim0x1/bettercode](https://github.com/kerim0x1/bettercode) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 45 minutes | Basis: From the README

Run several coding agents side by side on the same project to see which one fits a task best.

**Who it is for:** A developer or team lead who has access to more than one coding agent and needs to choose one for a repeated task.

**The problem:** Switching between separate agent apps makes it hard to compare answers to the same request on the same code.

**The outcome:** You keep several agent conversations visible in one workspace and judge their results against the same project files.

### Steps

1. Install the beta from the GitHub Releases page and open BetterC0de.
2. Connect each provider you want to test in Settings → Providers.
3. Open your project folder and start one conversation per agent with the same task text.
4. Arrange the panes in Agent mode so the conversations sit next to each other.
5. Compare the proposed changes in the Diff view and keep the result you prefer.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the BetterC0de repo's side-by-side conversations, give the same task text to Claude Code, OpenAI Codex and Cursor Agent for the project at <project-path>. Produce a short table of each agent's proposed file changes and one note per agent. Verify that each agent was connected and that every table row names a real file in <project-path>.
```

### Caveat

Provider access, usage limits and billing depend on each provider you connect, so running several agents may use several accounts.

## How to preview a web UI and send visual feedback to the agent with Bettercode

Repo: [kerim0x1/bettercode](https://github.com/kerim0x1/bettercode) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Check your project's live previews across screen sizes, select a page element, and send feedback to the agent.

**Who it is for:** A front-end developer whose agent-built page looks wrong on some screens and who wants to point at the problem instead of describing it.

**The problem:** Describing layout bugs in text takes many rounds, and the agent often fixes the wrong element.

**The outcome:** The agent receives feedback tied to a specific element on the live page, which shortens the fix cycle.

### Steps

1. Open your project in BetterC0de and switch to Canvas mode.
2. Open the live preview of the page you are building.
3. Change the view to different screen sizes to see how the layout behaves.
4. Select the page element that looks wrong.
5. Send visual feedback about that element to your agent and check the next result.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In BetterC0de Canvas mode, open the live preview of <project-path> and select the element at <element-description>. Send feedback describing the layout problem to the connected agent and report the file the agent changed. Verify the change by reloading the preview at two screen sizes.
```

### Caveat

The README does not say which frameworks the live preview supports, so test it on your own project before relying on it.

## How to build and run BetterC0de from source for contributions with Bettercode

Repo: [kerim0x1/bettercode](https://github.com/kerim0x1/bettercode) | Difficulty: Advanced | Time: 60 minutes | Basis: From the README

Clone the open source repo, install pinned tools, and start the app in development mode to test a change.

**Who it is for:** A developer who wants to read or change the BetterC0de code, such as a UI or theme contribution, after the source was released under MIT.

**The problem:** Contributing to the app requires a matching Node version, native build tools and a working development build.

**The outcome:** You have a running development copy of BetterC0de with hot reload that you can use to test your edits.

### Steps

1. Run `git clone https://github.com/kerim0x1/bettercode.git` and then `cd bettercode`.
2. Install the Node version pinned in the repo with `nvm use`, or with the version manager you use.
3. Install exact dependencies with `npm ci`.
4. Start the development app with `npm run dev`.
5. Read CONTRIBUTING.md before submitting changes, and run `npm run verify:source` before opening a pull request.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Clone https://github.com/kerim0x1/bettercode.git into <target-folder>, use the Node version in .nvmrc, run `npm ci`, then run `npm run dev`. Report whether the Electron window opens and paste any error with its first line. Verify by running `npm run verify:source` and confirming it exits with code 0.
```

### Caveat

The README requires Node 22.23.2 and platform build tools, and Windows users must install Visual Studio 2022 Build Tools with the C++ workload first.
