# AI use cases for Cmux (manaflow-ai/cmux)

Repo: [manaflow-ai/cmux](https://github.com/manaflow-ai/cmux) | Use cases: 3 | Page: https://dedupedai.com/use-cases/manaflow-ai-cmux/

cmux is a native macOS terminal built on Ghostty for people running many AI coding agents. Vertical tabs show each workspace's git branch, PR status, ports and latest notification; panes get a blue ring when an agent needs you; an in-app browser has a scriptable API ported from agent-browser; and everything is scriptable through a CLI and socket API, including SSH workspaces and one-command Claude Code Teams.

This file holds every use case of this repo. Each one starts with a "## " heading and ends with its URL.

## How to see at a glance which coding agent is waiting for you with Cmux

Repo: [manaflow-ai/cmux](https://github.com/manaflow-ai/cmux) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 10 minutes | Basis: From the README

Install Cmux and its agent hooks so waiting agents light up with a blue ring and a notification.

**Who it is for:** A developer with five or more agent sessions in split panes who misses when one is blocked.

**The problem:** Native notifications just say Claude is waiting with no context, and tab titles become unreadable.

**The outcome:** Panes that ring and tabs that light up when an agent needs you, plus a panel of all pending notifications.

### Steps

1. Run `brew tap manaflow-ai/cmux` and `brew install --cask cmux`
2. Run `cmux hooks setup` to install hooks for supported agents it finds
3. For Codex or OpenCode run `cmux hooks setup codex` or `cmux hooks setup --agent opencode`
4. Start your agents in separate workspaces and splits
5. Press Cmd+Shift+U to jump to the most recent unread notification

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Install manaflow-ai/cmux with Homebrew, run cmux hooks setup for Claude Code and Codex, and open three workspaces for <tasks>. Confirm that a waiting agent shows the blue ring and appears in the notification panel.
```

## How to run Claude Code teammate mode with one command with Cmux

Repo: [manaflow-ai/cmux](https://github.com/manaflow-ai/cmux) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 10 minutes | Basis: From the README

Use Cmux claude-teams so teammates spawn as native splits with sidebar metadata and notifications.

**Who it is for:** A developer trying Claude Code's teammate mode who does not want to manage tmux.

**The problem:** Teammate mode in a plain terminal means juggling tmux panes and guessing which teammate is active.

**The outcome:** Each teammate in its own native split with branch and notification info in the sidebar.

### Steps

1. Install Cmux
2. Open your project in a Cmux workspace
3. Run `cmux claude-teams` to start Claude Code's teammate mode
4. Watch teammates appear as native splits with sidebar metadata
5. Use the sidebar to see branches and linked PR status per workspace

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In manaflow-ai/cmux, start cmux claude-teams for <project> with teammates for <roles>, and tell me which split each teammate is in and what branch it is on.
```

## How to give an agent a workspace on a remote machine over SSH with Cmux

Repo: [manaflow-ai/cmux](https://github.com/manaflow-ai/cmux) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Create a Cmux workspace on a remote box where browser panes reach the remote localhost.

**Who it is for:** A developer whose code and dev server live on a remote Linux machine or GPU box.

**The problem:** Remote agents lose the local conveniences: browser previews of localhost, notifications and image drops.

**The outcome:** A remote workspace with an initial agent command, browser panes routed through the remote network and drag and drop uploads.

### Steps

1. Install Cmux locally
2. Run `cmux ssh user@remote` to create a workspace for the remote machine
3. Pass --command to run an initial agent command once in the first remote terminal
4. Open a browser pane; localhost on the remote just works
5. Drag images into the session to upload them via scp

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using manaflow-ai/cmux, create an SSH workspace on <host>, start my coding agent there on <task>, open a browser pane on the remote dev server at localhost:<port>, and report when the agent needs input.
```

### Caveat

Risk, credentials: Browser import can bring cookies and sessions from your browsers into Cmux panes; import only what the agent needs.
