Repo: [manavmishra/ZeroSlop](https://github.com/manavmishra/ZeroSlop) | Use cases: 4 | Page: https://dedupedai.com/use-cases/manavmishra-zeroslop/

Zero Slop is a free, open-source agent skill that finds AI slop in writing and edits it while checking that the core details survive.

This file holds every use case of this repo. Each one starts with a "## " heading and ends with its URL.

## How to remove AI slop from a draft inside Claude Code or Codex with Zero Slop

Repo: [manavmishra/ZeroSlop](https://github.com/manavmishra/ZeroSlop) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Install the skill once, then run one command to flag and rewrite slop in a draft.

**Who it is for:** A writer or marketer who drafts with Claude Code or Codex and needs a launch post, announcement, or article cleaned up before it goes out.

**The problem:** AI drafts can be grammatically sound but still read like workslop, with canned openers, inflated claims, and promotional wording.

**The outcome:** A rewritten draft with flagged phrases removed, a writing score, and a final comparison with the original.

### Steps

1. Run `npx skills add manavmishra/ZeroSlop --global` to install the skill.
2. Open Claude Code or Codex in your project or writing folder.
3. Run `/zero-slop (your writing)` with the draft pasted or referenced.
4. To see flagged passages without an edit, run `/zero-slop inspect (your writing)` first.
5. Compare the edit with the original and check that names, numbers, and claims are unchanged.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Use the Zero Slop skill from the repo manavmishra/ZeroSlop on the draft at <path-to-draft>. Return the rewritten text and the writing score. Verify that every name, number, and link in the original still appears in the output.
```

### Caveat

The skill runs inside your assistant and the README says the optional update check sends only metadata, so review the edited text yourself before publishing.

## How to score a folder of drafts for slop without a model call with Zero Slop

Repo: [manavmishra/ZeroSlop](https://github.com/manavmishra/ZeroSlop) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Run the local Python scorer over a folder and flag files at or above a threshold.

**Who it is for:** An editor or content lead with a backlog of drafts who wants a quick triage before deciding which ones need review.

**The problem:** Reading every draft by hand takes time, and the team needs to know which pieces carry the most sloppy patterns.

**The outcome:** A list of drafts that meet or exceed the review threshold of 25, so the editor can prioritize revisions.

### Steps

1. Clone the repo with git clone https://github.com/manavmishra/ZeroSlop and open the checkout.
2. Put your draft files in a folder named drafts/.
3. Run `python3 scripts/slopscore.py --batch drafts/ --gate 25` from the checkout.
4. Read the per-file writing scores and note which files are flagged.
5. Revise the flagged drafts, then rerun the command to confirm the scores drop.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the ZeroSlop checkout, run python3 scripts/slopscore.py --batch <folder> --gate 25 and list each file with its writing score and whether it was flagged. Verify that the scorer ran locally and no draft text was sent to a model.
```

### Caveat

The scorer flags patterns worth reviewing and cannot tell who wrote the text, so a high score is a prompt for review, not proof of machine writing.

## How to edit a file from the terminal and gate on approval with Zero Slop

Repo: [manavmishra/ZeroSlop](https://github.com/manavmishra/ZeroSlop) | Difficulty: Advanced | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Send a file to the hosted editor with the CLI and exit nonzero when review is needed.

**Who it is for:** A developer or technical writer who wants slop removal as a step in a terminal workflow or script.

**The problem:** Manual copy-paste into a web editor breaks repeatable workflows, and scripts need a pass or fail signal.

**The outcome:** Edited text printed to the terminal, with a nonzero exit code when the result still needs human review.

### Steps

1. Confirm Node.js 22+ is installed.
2. Run `npx --yes zero-slop@2.12.26 deslop draft.md --genre professional` to get the edited result.
3. Add `--json` to get structured output, or use `-` to read from stdin.
4. Add `--require-approved` so the command exits nonzero when review is needed.
5. Read the CLI options and privacy notes in docs/cli.md before running on private text.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Run npx --yes zero-slop@2.12.26 deslop <path-to-draft> --genre professional --json --require-approved on the file and report the status and the exit code. Verify that the source file on disk was not changed by the command.
```

### Caveat

The CLI sends the file to the hosted editor, so check the privacy notes in docs/cli.md before using it on confidential drafts.

## How to call the REST API to edit text in a publishing pipeline with Zero Slop

Repo: [manavmishra/ZeroSlop](https://github.com/manavmishra/ZeroSlop) | Difficulty: Advanced | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Post text to the deslop endpoint and check status before using the edit.

**Who it is for:** A developer building a publishing tool or content pipeline that needs slop removal on short text.

**The problem:** Pipelines need an HTTP call that returns edited text they can check before it goes live.

**The outcome:** An edited version of the text returned by the API, accepted only when its status field confirms it is usable.

### Steps

1. Read the API reference in docs/rest-api.md and the OpenAPI contract at https://mcp.zero-slop.ai/openapi.json.
2. Keep each request under the shared free capacity limit of 20,000 Unicode code points after trimming.
3. Send the text with `curl --fail-with-body --max-time 75 https://mcp.zero-slop.ai/v1/deslop -H 'Content-Type: application/json' --data '{"text":"<your text>","genre":"professional"}'`. (inferred, check the README)
4. Check the status field in the response before using the edited text.
5. Log the original and the edit so a human can review changes.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Send the text in <path-to-text> to https://mcp.zero-slop.ai/v1/deslop as JSON with genre professional, then return the status and the edited text. Verify that the status field is approved before the output is used.
```

### Caveat

The shared free capacity accepts up to 20,000 Unicode code points per request, so longer documents need to be split before sending.
