# AI use cases for Imark (migsilva89/imark)

Repo: [migsilva89/imark](https://github.com/migsilva89/imark) | Use cases: 3 | Page: https://dedupedai.com/use-cases/migsilva89-imark/

Imark is a native macOS Markdown reader that live-reloads on save, saves comments into the .md file as HTML comments, and lets a coding agent open a plan and wait while you mark it up.

This file holds every use case of this repo. Each one starts with a "## " heading and ends with its URL.

## How to review your coding agent's plan with inline comments with Imark

Repo: [migsilva89/imark](https://github.com/migsilva89/imark) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Have the agent open its plan in Imark, comment on phrases, and let it read your notes back.

**Who it is for:** A developer whose agent writes PLAN.md files that are hard to give precise feedback on in chat.

**The problem:** Feedback in chat loses track of which sentence it refers to.

**The outcome:** Comments anchored to exact phrases that the agent reads from the file.

### Steps

1. Install with `brew install --cask migsilva89/imark/imark`
2. Ask the agent to run `/imark:imark-review PLAN.md`
3. Select phrases in the plan and add comments
4. Have the agent read them with `/imark:imark-notes PLAN.md`

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Open <PLAN.md> with /imark:imark-review, wait for my comments, then read them with /imark:imark-notes and revise the plan to address each one. List each comment and the change you made.
```

### Caveat

Comments are stored as HTML comments inside the Markdown, so they will show up in diffs and commits.

## How to keep a live rendered preview open while you write with Imark

Repo: [migsilva89/imark](https://github.com/migsilva89/imark) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Open any .md file rendered and let it reload on every save from your editor.

**Who it is for:** A technical writer drafting docs in a plain text editor.

**The problem:** Switching to a browser preview after every save breaks flow.

**The outcome:** A rendered view that follows every save, plus space bar previews in Finder.

### Steps

1. Install Imark with Homebrew
2. Double-click a .md file or run `imark notes.md`
3. Edit in your usual editor and save
4. Use the space bar in Finder for Quick Look previews

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Open <file.md> with `imark notes.md`-style usage, edit it in another editor, and confirm the rendered view updates after save.
```

### Caveat

Nothing leaves the machine, so there is no cloud sync of comments.

## How to pull review notes out of a Markdown file as text with Imark

Repo: [migsilva89/imark](https://github.com/migsilva89/imark) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Use the CLI to print the notes someone left in a document so you can act on them.

**Who it is for:** A team lead collecting reviewer comments on a design doc that was emailed around.

**The problem:** Comments scattered through a file are easy to miss.

**The outcome:** A plain text list of every note left in the document.

### Steps

1. Install Imark
2. Run `imark notes notes.md` on the reviewed file
3. Work through each note
4. Delete resolved comments in the app

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Run `imark notes <file.md>` and turn each note into a task with the quoted phrase it refers to. Confirm the count matches the comments visible in the app.
```

### Caveat

It is macOS only.
