# AI use cases for Monid (monid-ai/monid)

Repo: [monid-ai/monid](https://github.com/monid-ai/monid) | Use cases: 4 | Page: https://dedupedai.com/use-cases/monid-ai-monid/

Monid is a TypeScript connector layer that describes AI tool providers and their endpoints in one declarative format, so agents can call many APIs through one interface.

This file holds every use case of this repo. Each one starts with a "## " heading and ends with its URL.

## How to add your API to Monid as a connector with Monid

Repo: [monid-ai/monid](https://github.com/monid-ai/monid) | Difficulty: Advanced | Time: 3 hours | Basis: From the README

Write a provider and endpoint definition and open a pull request to add your API.

**Who it is for:** An API provider or developer who wants agents on Monid to call their endpoints after the connector merges.

**The problem:** Agents cannot find or call an API that is not described in the Monid connector format.

**The outcome:** A tested connector pull request that passes typecheck and fixture replay with no network, ready for manual review.

### Steps

1. `git clone https://github.com/monid-ai/monid.git` then `cd monid`
2. Read connectors/exa/ and DEVELOPMENT.md to learn the provider and endpoint format
3. Write connectors/<provider>/provider.ts and an endpoint.ts with its schema and tests
4. `deno task record` to save a trimmed fixture, then `deno task check && deno task test`
5. Open a pull request, then email support@Monid.ai with the PR link, your API docs link and your company name

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the monid repo, read AGENT.md and connectors/exa/, then write a provider and one endpoint for <your API docs URL>. Run deno task check && deno task test and report whether they pass with no network.
```

### Caveat

Monid reviews every connector by hand after the pull request, so a passing build does not guarantee the connector is accepted.

Risk, credentials: Recorded fixtures must be trimmed so no vendor keys or account data end up committed to the repo.

## How to run a live web search endpoint from the terminal with Monid

Repo: [monid-ai/monid](https://github.com/monid-ai/monid) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Call the TinyFish search endpoint with your own key and read the JSON result.

**Who it is for:** A developer who wants to test a Monid endpoint against a real vendor before wiring it into an agent.

**The problem:** It is unclear what a real provider call returns until you run it with your own credentials.

**The outcome:** A live search response from the TinyFish endpoint printed to the terminal.

### Steps

1. Install Deno 2.x and clone the repo with `git clone https://github.com/monid-ai/monid.git`
2. `cd monid`
3. `export TINYFISH_CREDENTIALS_API_KEY=...` using your own key
4. `deno task engine:run 'tinyfish#search' --query-params '{"query":"solid-state battery suppliers","domain_type":"news"}'` (inferred, check the README)

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the monid repo, set TINYFISH_CREDENTIALS_API_KEY from the environment and run deno task engine:run 'tinyfish#search' with a query of <your query>. Report the returned output and confirm it is a JSON result.
```

### Caveat

The live run uses your own vendor key and is billed by that vendor, while the CI replay tests need no network.

Risk, credentials: Export your TinyFish key only in your local shell and do not paste it into shared logs or prompts.

## How to pick the right search endpoint from the catalog with Monid

Repo: [monid-ai/monid](https://github.com/monid-ai/monid) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

List and inspect web-search endpoints across providers before choosing one.

**Who it is for:** A researcher or agent builder who needs to choose a search API for a job and wants the exact contract first.

**The problem:** Many providers offer similar search endpoints, and the right one depends on the contract and category.

**The outcome:** A short shortlist of web-search endpoints with one full contract to compare.

### Steps

1. Clone the repo with `git clone https://github.com/monid-ai/monid.git` and `cd monid`
2. `deno task catalog providers` to see what exists
3. `deno task catalog endpoints --category web-search` to list search endpoints across providers
4. `deno task catalog inspect 'exa#search'` to read one endpoint's full contract

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the monid repo, run deno task catalog endpoints --category web-search and then deno task catalog inspect on the two most relevant endpoints for <your search goal>. Report a short comparison of their inputs and descriptions.
```

### Caveat

The catalog shows what the connectors declare, so it does not confirm live health or quality of each provider.

## How to generate an Apify actor endpoint from its input schema with Monid

Repo: [monid-ai/monid](https://github.com/monid-ai/monid) | Difficulty: Advanced | Time: 1 hour | Basis: From the README

Scaffold a static zod input schema for an Apify actor and review it before committing.

**Who it is for:** A developer who wants to expose an existing Apify actor through Monid and skip hand-writing its input schema.

**The problem:** Writing the input schema for an Apify actor by hand is slow and easy to get wrong.

**The outcome:** A generated schema/inputs.ts file for the actor, ready for review and commit.

### Steps

1. Set `APIFY_CREDENTIALS_API_KEY` in your shell
2. Run `deno task apify:scaffold` and supply the actor you want
3. Review the generated schema/inputs.ts file line by line
4. Run `deno task check && deno task test` and commit the result

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the monid repo with APIFY_CREDENTIALS_API_KEY set, run deno task apify:scaffold for <actor name>, then review the generated schema/inputs.ts. Report any fields you would change before committing and whether deno task check passes.
```

### Caveat

The scaffold only generates the input schema, so the provider and endpoint files still need to be written and reviewed by hand.

Risk, credentials: The scaffold step calls the Apify API with your key, so keep APIFY_CREDENTIALS_API_KEY out of committed files.
