## How to install a personal agent on your Android phone with Nano Muse

Repo: [nano-muse/nanoMuse](https://github.com/nano-muse/nanoMuse) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Install the Nano Muse APK and give the phone agent a first task that it can do on its own.

**Who it is for:** An Android owner who wants an agent that works on the phone itself and keeps working while the app is closed.

**The problem:** A phone assistant that only answers questions does not finish tasks, and apps without an API stay out of reach.

**The outcome:** A signed-in Nano Muse on the phone that runs a task, pauses to ask before anything irreversible, and shows the same conversations as the other devices.

### Steps

1. Download nanoMuse-1.0.5-arm64.apk from the v1.0.5 release page on GitHub.
2. Install the APK on an Android 8.0+ arm64 phone; later versions install over it and keep your data.
3. Open the app and sign in with an e-mail or a mainland-China phone number to get a model to think with.
4. Give it a small task, and when it asks for a stop before a delete, send or payment, answer it on the phone.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the nano-muse/nanoMuse repository, locate nanoMuse-1.0.5-arm64.apk in the v1.0.5 release, download it to <device>, and install it on an Android 8.0+ arm64 phone. Report the version the app shows after first launch, and verify it matches 1.0.5.
```

### Caveat

The Android app is an arm64 build for Android 8.0 or newer, and on iPhone the screen-control hands are not available because the system does not allow them.

## How to run the relay and web app on your own server with Nano Muse

Repo: [nano-muse/nanoMuse](https://github.com/nano-muse/nanoMuse) | Difficulty: Advanced | Time: 1 hour | Basis: From the README

Host the relay that joins your devices on a server you control, so the agent runs in your house.

**Who it is for:** A developer or privacy-minded user with a VPS who does not want the relay run by someone else.

**The problem:** A personal agent that depends on a hosted cloud service leaves the user with no control over where the conversations go.

**The outcome:** A relay running on your server that the phone, desktop and web apps can join, with the web app served from your own machine.

### Steps

1. Prepare a VPS or server you control, following the one-hour plan in docs/self-hosting.md.
2. Clone the repository with `git clone https://github.com/nano-muse/nanoMuse` and enter the folder with `cd nanoMuse`. (inferred, check the README)
3. Run `bash scripts/self-host.sh --local` to start your own relay.
4. Run `docker compose up -d app` to serve the web app on the server.
5. Read docs/cloud.md and docs/privacy.md to confirm how the apps reach your relay and what it keeps.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the nano-muse/nanoMuse repository, follow docs/self-hosting.md to start your own relay with `bash scripts/self-host.sh --local` on <server>. Report whether the relay and the web app started and which address the web app answers on. Verify the web app loads in a browser from that address.
```

### Caveat

The relay carries the text of conversations between your devices, while files and screenshots stay where they were made, so check docs/privacy.md before relying on it.

Dual-use notice: only use this on software, sites and systems you own or are authorized to test.

## How to send a task from your phone to your computer with Nano Muse

Repo: [nano-muse/nanoMuse](https://github.com/nano-muse/nanoMuse) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Start a message with an @ device name on the phone so the desktop app does the work there.

**Who it is for:** A person whose files, apps or browser sit on a computer, but who wants to start the task from a phone in hand.

**The problem:** Apps and windows on a computer are out of reach from a phone, so the task waits until you sit down.

**The outcome:** A task running on the desktop app that you started from the phone, with approvals arriving back on the phone in your hand.

### Steps

1. Install Nano Muse Desktop for your system from the v1.0.5 release page, for example the macOS 12+ .dmg or the Windows 10+ .exe.
2. Sign in on the desktop with the same account you use on the phone.
3. On the phone, start the message with @Mac followed by the task, the form the README shows.
4. Answer any stop that appears on the phone before the desktop goes ahead with a delete, send or payment.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the nano-muse/nanoMuse repository, install nanoMuse Desktop v1.0.5 on <computer> and sign in with the account used on <phone>. Send one harmless test task from the phone starting with @Mac, and verify the desktop reports the task as started.
```

### Caveat

The README shows @Mac as the example and does not spell out the handle for a Windows or Linux computer, so check the device name in the app.

## How to set routines and goals that run while the app is closed with Nano Muse

Repo: [nano-muse/nanoMuse](https://github.com/nano-muse/nanoMuse) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Ask the agent to check a goal on a schedule and to write a feed for you each morning.

**Who it is for:** A person with a recurring check, such as a daily status or a morning briefing, who wants it done without opening the app.

**The problem:** Recurring checks are easy to forget, and a chat assistant only works while someone is talking to it.

**The outcome:** A goal that is checked on a schedule and a morning feed written for you, both running while the app is closed.

### Steps

1. Open Nano Muse on your phone or desktop and sign in.
2. Describe the goal you want checked and how often, and ask the agent to keep checking it on a schedule.
3. Ask for a routine that runs while the app is closed, and for a feed written for you each morning.
4. Watch the first run, and answer any login or CAPTCHA the agent hands back to you so the routine can resume.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the nano-muse/nanoMuse repository, use the signed-in app on <device> to set one scheduled goal and one morning feed. Report the goal and schedule the agent confirms, and verify the first run completes after the app is closed.
```

### Caveat

The README names scheduled goals, routines and the morning feed but does not give the exact setup steps, so confirm the schedule the agent records before you rely on it.

Risk, credentials: A routine that reaches a login or CAPTCHA hands it to you, so do not expect it to type passwords or codes on its own.

Dual-use notice: only use this on software, sites and systems you own or are authorized to test.
