# AI use cases for Web GPT (Nhahan/WebGPT)

Repo: [Nhahan/WebGPT](https://github.com/Nhahan/WebGPT) | Use cases: 3 | Page: https://dedupedai.com/use-cases/nhahan-webgpt/

WebGPT is a Codex skill that hands tasks off to ChatGPT on the web through a local Worker, so the work does not use up Codex quota.

This file holds every use case of this repo. Each one starts with a "## " heading and ends with its URL.

## How to offload a research task to ChatGPT Pro from Codex with Web GPT

Repo: [Nhahan/WebGPT](https://github.com/Nhahan/WebGPT) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Send a research question to ChatGPT Pro and get a summary back without spending Codex quota.

**Who it is for:** A developer using Codex who is running low on quota and needs a topic researched and summarized.

**The problem:** Research work consumes Codex quota that is needed for coding tasks.

**The outcome:** A summary of the findings returned to Codex, produced by ChatGPT on the web in Pro mode.

### Steps

1. Install the skill by pasting the install prompt from the README into Codex, then let Codex follow references/setup.md.
2. Complete any sign-in step that only you can do, then let the setup test finish.
3. In Codex, tell it: `webgpt p Research this topic and summarize the findings.` with your topic in place of the sample text.
4. Read the summary Codex returns and check it against the sources it cites.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the WebGPT repo (Nhahan/WebGPT), run `webgpt p` with the research question <topic>. Expect a written summary of the findings returned to Codex. Verify that the summary answers the question and says where its claims came from.
```

### Caveat

The README says the project folder is not a sandbox, so the delegated work has full terminal access as your OS user.

Risk, credentials: The skill uses your signed-in ChatGPT account and shares a private URL with it, so keep the session and URL limited to your own machine.

## How to build planned project features in parallel with subagents with Web GPT

Repo: [Nhahan/WebGPT](https://github.com/Nhahan/WebGPT) | Difficulty: Advanced | Time: 45 minutes | Basis: From the README

Split a project's planned features across Web GPT extra-high subagents that run at the same time.

**Who it is for:** A developer with a list of planned features in one project who wants them worked on at the same time.

**The problem:** Working through several planned features one at a time takes longer than the work needs.

**The outcome:** Each planned feature is developed by its own subagent in the project, and the results are reported back to Codex.

### Steps

1. Install the skill by pasting the install prompt from the README into Codex, then let Codex follow references/setup.md.
2. Make sure the planned features for the project are written down where Codex can read them.
3. In Codex, tell it: `Use webgpt xh as subagents to develop this project's planned features in parallel.`
4. Review each feature branch or change Codex reports and run the project's own tests before accepting it.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the WebGPT repo (Nhahan/WebGPT), ask Codex to run webgpt xh subagents on the planned features of <project path>. Expect one completed change per planned feature and a short report from each subagent. Verify each change with the project's existing tests before merging.
```

### Caveat

The README gives no details on how parallel subagent results are merged, so review every change before accepting it.

Risk, credentials: Subagents run with full terminal access as your OS user in the project, so limit the work to projects you have assigned.

## How to open ChatGPT with terminal access to a project with Web GPT

Repo: [Nhahan/WebGPT](https://github.com/Nhahan/WebGPT) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Open ChatGPT in the browser with terminal access to the current project or a folder you name.

**Who it is for:** A developer who wants to talk through a codebase directly with ChatGPT, with it able to run commands in that project.

**The problem:** Explaining a project to ChatGPT by hand and copying output back and forth is slow.

**The outcome:** A ChatGPT session opens with terminal access to the chosen project folder.

### Steps

1. Install the skill by pasting the install prompt from the README into Codex, then let Codex follow references/setup.md.
2. In Codex, tell it: `webgpt open` to open ChatGPT for the current project.
3. To use another project, tell Codex: `webgpt open /path/to/project` with your project path.
4. Confirm the project is the one you intended before asking ChatGPT to run anything.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the WebGPT repo (Nhahan/WebGPT), run `webgpt open /path/to/project` with the project path <project path>. Expect ChatGPT to open with terminal access to that folder. Verify the session is pointed at the correct project before giving it any task.
```

### Caveat

The README says the project folder is not a sandbox, so ChatGPT has the same terminal access as your OS user in that folder.

Risk, remote script: The local Worker is exposed through accountless HTTPS forwarding, so ChatGPT can run terminal commands on your machine through that link.
