wallfacer is a Go terminal session manager that indexes Claude Code, Cursor CLI, Kiro CLI and Codex conversations read-only so you can name, tag, search, resume or delete them.

This file holds every use case of this repo. Each one starts with a "## " heading and ends with its URL.

## How to find and resume an old AI coding session by title with Wallfacer

Repo: [pradipta/wallfacer](https://github.com/pradipta/wallfacer) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Index every session from every agent and directory, then search and jump back into the one you need.

**Who it is for:** A developer trying to find last week's Claude Code session that fixed an auth bug.

**The problem:** Agents save sessions as untitled files keyed by directory, so you cannot tell them apart.

**The outcome:** One searchable view of all sessions with resume from anywhere.

### Steps

1. Install with `brew install pradipta/wallfacer/wallfacer` or `go install github.com/pradipta/wallfacer@latest`
2. Run `wallfacer` to browse every session by recency
3. Search with `wallfacer search auth`
4. Resume with `wallfacer resume "fix flaky auth tests"`

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Install pradipta/wallfacer, search for sessions about <topic>, and resume the most recent match. Confirm wallfacer did not modify the agent's own session files.
```

### Caveat

Titles, tags and projects live in Wallfacer's own SQLite database, not in the agents' files.

## How to start agent sessions with a title and project with Wallfacer

Repo: [pradipta/wallfacer](https://github.com/pradipta/wallfacer) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Launch new sessions already named and grouped so they stay findable.

**Who it is for:** A developer juggling several services who wants each agent session filed under its project.

**The problem:** Untitled sessions pile up and become impossible to sort.

**The outcome:** Named sessions grouped by project and filterable by agent.

### Steps

1. Install Wallfacer
2. Run `wallfacer new ~/work/api --title "Fix flaky auth tests"`
3. Tag sessions and group them into projects in the browser
4. Filter later with `wallfacer list --project api --json`

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Use wallfacer to start a session in <dir> titled <title> under project <project>, then list that project's sessions as JSON. Verify the new session appears with the right title.
```

### Caveat

The agent is chosen when you start a session, so pick it at launch rather than later.

## How to script reports over your agent sessions with JSON with Wallfacer

Repo: [pradipta/wallfacer](https://github.com/pradipta/wallfacer) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Export session lists per project as JSON for your own scripts and dashboards.

**Who it is for:** A developer who wants a weekly summary of where their agent time went.

**The problem:** Session data is spread across four agents' private folders.

**The outcome:** Machine-readable session lists filtered by project.

### Steps

1. Install Wallfacer and organize sessions into projects
2. Run `wallfacer list --project api --json`
3. Pipe the output into your script
4. Delete stale sessions with rm, which moves them to trash

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Run `wallfacer list --project <project> --json`, count sessions per agent, and report the oldest one. Confirm the counts match what the full-screen browser shows.
```

### Caveat

Deleting with rm only moves sessions to trash, so they are recoverable until emptied.
