## How to deploy a private personal AI agent in one command with Talorys

Repo: [rociiu/talorys](https://github.com/rociiu/talorys) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Install Talorys into your own Cloudflare account and sign in from any device.

**Who it is for:** A solo user who wants a personal AI assistant that stores data in their own Cloudflare account, not a vendor's server.

**The problem:** Hosted assistants keep your chats, memories and tasks on someone else's servers, and setting up your own is usually a manual project.

**The outcome:** A working Talorys site at a pages.dev address that only you can sign into with your owner password.

### Steps

1. Confirm Node.js 22 or newer is installed.
2. Run `npx create-talorys@latest` in the folder where you want the talorys/ directory created.
3. Log in to Cloudflare in the browser page the installer opens, choose your account and an agent name.
4. Enter an owner password when asked. The installer stores only a hash of it as a Cloudflare secret.
5. Open the https://….pages.dev URL the installer prints, enter your password and start chatting.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the rociiu/talorys repo, run `npx create-talorys@latest` in <target-folder> and follow the prompts for the Cloudflare account and owner password. Report the pages.dev URL the installer prints. Verify by opening that URL and confirming the password screen loads.
```

### Caveat

The installer creates the resources in your Cloudflare account, and Workers AI calls may use part of the free daily allocation, which Cloudflare can change.

Risk, credentials: The installer asks for your owner password and may use a Cloudflare API token, so keep both out of shared logs and chat transcripts.

## How to get reminders and a daily task digest on your phone with Talorys

Repo: [rociiu/talorys](https://github.com/rociiu/talorys) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Set up one-time or recurring reminders and push them to your devices.

**Who it is for:** A busy person who forgets routine deadlines and wants reminders that arrive even when the app is closed.

**The problem:** Reminders in a chat window are easy to miss, and most assistants need a laptop or server to stay online.

**The outcome:** Reminders and a daily task digest arrive as system notifications on the devices you enabled.

### Steps

1. Deploy Talorys with `npx create-talorys@latest` and sign in.
2. Open Settings, then General, and turn on push notifications for the phone or computer you use.
3. On iPhone or iPad, add Talorys to the Home Screen first.
4. Open Automations and create a one-time or recurring reminder, or enable the daily task digest.
5. Wait for the scheduled time and confirm the notification arrives and also appears in the in-app notification center.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the rociiu/talorys app at <pages-dev-url>, enable push notifications in Settings > General and create a recurring reminder named <reminder-name> for <time>. Report the automation's next run time. Verify that the reminder appears in the Automations list and the notification center.
```

### Caveat

Push notifications use standard Web Push, and iPhone and iPad need the Home Screen step before they can receive them.

## How to capture tasks and personal facts by chatting with Talorys

Repo: [rociiu/talorys](https://github.com/rociiu/talorys) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Add tasks and save durable facts from chat, then review them in the app.

**Who it is for:** A person who thinks of tasks and preferences mid-conversation and wants them saved without switching apps.

**The problem:** Ideas and commitments mentioned in conversation get lost unless someone writes them into a task list.

**The outcome:** Tasks with due dates and saved memories appear in the Tasks and Memory screens, editable and deletable.

### Steps

1. Open the chat after signing in to your Talorys site.
2. Ask in chat to add a task with a due date, for example "Add a task to review my project tomorrow".
3. Tell the assistant a durable fact or preference you want remembered.
4. Open Tasks and Memory to check the new entries.
5. Edit or delete any entry that is wrong.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the Talorys chat at <pages-dev-url>, ask the assistant to add a task titled <task-title> due <date> and to remember the fact <fact>. Report the task ID and memory entry created. Verify both appear in the Tasks and Memory screens.
```

### Caveat

Only the most relevant memories are sent to the model on each turn, and chat messages are processed by Workers AI, so review what you save.

## How to back up your Talorys data and restore it later with Talorys

Repo: [rociiu/talorys](https://github.com/rociiu/talorys) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Download a backup file of your data and import it into another install.

**Who it is for:** An owner who wants a copy of their chats, memories, tasks and automations before an update or a move.

**The problem:** Your history and settings live in one Durable Object, so losing access to that install would mean losing everything.

**The outcome:** A talorys-backup.json file you can keep, and a merged import that does not duplicate or overwrite your edited memories.

### Steps

1. Open Settings, then Privacy, and choose Download backup to save talorys-backup.json.
2. Store the file somewhere safe, knowing it contains your personal data but not sessions or credentials.
3. To restore, open Settings, then Privacy, and choose Import on the target Talorys install.
4. Check the import result, which lists any settings it skipped.
5. Re-open Automations, because imported automations arrive paused and must be turned back on.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the Talorys app at <pages-dev-url>, download a backup from Settings > Privacy and save it as talorys-backup.json. Report the file size and the counts of conversations, memories and tasks if shown. Verify the file opens as valid JSON and contains an automations list.
```

### Caveat

The backup file holds your personal conversations and memories in plain JSON, so store it as carefully as you would store private notes.

## How to run Talorys locally to test changes without Cloudflare with Talorys

Repo: [rociiu/talorys](https://github.com/rociiu/talorys) | Difficulty: Advanced | Time: 45 minutes | Basis: From the README

Start the agent, Pages proxy and UI on your machine with a mock AI provider.

**Who it is for:** A developer who wants to modify Talorys or test a feature before deploying to Cloudflare.

**The problem:** Testing a change against a live deployment is slow, and it spends real Cloudflare resources on every try.

**The outcome:** A local Talorys UI at http://localhost:5173 that you can edit and test with a deterministic mock AI provider.

### Steps

1. Install Node.js 22 or newer.
2. Run `git clone https://github.com/rociiu/talorys.git` and then `cd talorys`.
3. Run `npm install`.
4. Run `npm run dev` and open http://localhost:5173 in your browser.
5. Sign in with talorys-dev-password, or the value of TALORYS_DEV_PASSWORD if you set it, and run `npm test` before you change anything.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the rociiu/talorys repo, run `npm install` and `npm run dev`, then open http://localhost:5173. Report whether the sign-in page loads and whether `npm test` passes. Verify that the app is running without a Cloudflare login.
```

### Caveat

Local development uses the mock AI provider, so model replies are deterministic and do not reflect the live Workers AI model.

Risk, credentials: The local dev password defaults to talorys-dev-password, so set TALORYS_DEV_PASSWORD before exposing the dev server on any network.
