## How to connect Codex to Ruflo's MCP server with Ruflo

Repo: [ruvnet/ruflo](https://github.com/ruvnet/ruflo) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Give Codex Ruflo's MCP tools so it can use Ruflo's agent coordination from your project.

**Who it is for:** A developer who uses Codex or another MCP-enabled tool and wants Ruflo tools available inside that client.

**The problem:** Codex has no shared agent coordination, memory or swarm tooling of its own, so each task starts without that context.

**The outcome:** Your MCP client lists Ruflo tools and can call them from the project you set up.

### Steps

1. Open your project terminal and run `npx ruflo@latest init wizard`.
2. In your MCP client, add a local stdio server with command `npx` and arguments `["-y", "ruflo@latest", "mcp", "start"]`.
3. Or run `npx -y ruflo@latest mcp start` as the equivalent server command.
4. Restart the client and confirm that Ruflo tools appear in its tool list.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the repo ruvnet/ruflo, set up the Ruflo MCP server for <target client> in the project at <project path>. Expected output: the MCP server entry with command npx and arguments ["-y", "ruflo@latest", "mcp", "start"]. Verify that the client lists Ruflo tools before reporting success.
```

### Caveat

The README says hook support depends on the client, and the Claude Code console and mods do not apply to Codex.

Dual-use notice: only use this on software, sites and systems you own or are authorized to test.

## How to watch agent runs in a terminal console with Ruflo

Repo: [ruvnet/ruflo](https://github.com/ruvnet/ruflo) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Open Ruflo's terminal UI to see workflows, swarms, cost and events without Claude Code.

**Who it is for:** A developer who prefers a plain terminal and wants a live view of agent activity during a session.

**The problem:** Agent work runs in the background, and you have no single place to see what swarms, costs and events are doing.

**The outcome:** A terminal view with Overview, Cost, Swarm, Events and Missions pages, or one printed frame for scripts.

### Steps

1. Run `npx ruflo tui` in your project terminal.
2. Move between the Overview, Cost, Swarm, Events and Missions pages.
3. For scripts or logs, run `npx ruflo tui --plain` to print one frame. (inferred, check the README)

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the repo ruvnet/ruflo, run `npx ruflo tui --plain` in <project path> and save the output to <output file>. Expected output: one text frame showing the Overview page. Verify that the file contains the page labels before you report it as captured.
```

### Caveat

The README states the console runs on its own with no Claude Code, but the sample animations use sample data and are not proof of completed swarm work.

Dual-use notice: only use this on software, sites and systems you own or are authorized to test.

## How to add the Ruflo console to Claude Code with Ruflo

Repo: [ruvnet/ruflo](https://github.com/ruvnet/ruflo) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Install Ruflo's core, console and mods plugins into Claude Code and open the cockpit with /ruflo.

**Who it is for:** A Claude Code user who wants agent tracking, cost and logs visible beside their coding session.

**The problem:** Claude Code sessions do not show which workflows, agents, models or costs are running.

**The outcome:** The Ruflo console opens inside Claude Code and shows your workflows, agents and cost.

### Steps

1. Confirm Claude Code is version 2.1.287 or later.
2. Inside Claude Code, run `/plugin marketplace add ruvnet/ruflo`.
3. Run `/plugin install ruflo-core@ruflo`, then `/plugin install ruflo-console@ruflo`, then `/plugin install ruflo-mods@ruflo`.
4. Run `/reload-plugins`, then run `/ruflo` to open the console.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the repo ruvnet/ruflo, install the ruflo-core, ruflo-console and ruflo-mods plugins into Claude Code on <target machine>. Expected output: the three plugins listed as installed after /reload-plugins. Verify that /ruflo opens the console before reporting success.
```

### Caveat

The README says mods run with your account's permissions and are not sandboxed, so review them first.

Risk, remote script: The mods run with your account's permissions and are not sandboxed, so read their code before installing.

Dual-use notice: only use this on software, sites and systems you own or are authorized to test.

## How to let Claude create a mission within limits you set with Ruflo

Repo: [ruvnet/ruflo](https://github.com/ruvnet/ruflo) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Allow Claude to create a console mission with approval, then check it in Missions.

**Who it is for:** A team lead who wants Claude to file a mission for a feature but keeps approval over each action.

**The problem:** You want Claude to drive the console for routine steps without giving it unchecked control over spending or actions.

**The outcome:** A mission with your goal appears in Missions, and Overview logs the action.

### Steps

1. Install the console as in the Claude Code cockpit use case, then open `/ruflo`.
2. Open Settings, choose Claude control, and set write with ask approval.
3. Give a concrete request such as creating a mission for a dark mode toggle.
4. Confirm the pending create action, then check that Missions contains the goal and Overview records it.
5. Use Take back control to pause Claude's console tools when you are done.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the repo ruvnet/ruflo, have Claude create a mission with the goal <mission goal> in the Ruflo console with write and ask settings. Expected output: the mission in Missions with the goal text. Verify that the mission exists and that creating it did not mark the feature as implemented.
```

### Caveat

The README says a mission is a goal record only, and creating one does not mean the feature has been implemented.

Risk, credentials: Claude control can run console actions on your account, so keep approval on ask and review each pending action.

Dual-use notice: only use this on software, sites and systems you own or are authorized to test.

## How to add the Grok Build project surface to a repo with Ruflo

Repo: [ruvnet/ruflo](https://github.com/ruvnet/ruflo) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Write Ruflo's Grok host files into one project, previewing first with a dry run.

**Who it is for:** A developer using Grok Build who wants Ruflo's project files and team bus inside a single repository.

**The problem:** Setting up a new agent host by hand means writing host files and checking their contents without a preview.

**The outcome:** A .grok/ folder, team bus and operator guide are written into the project, with nothing outside it.

### Steps

1. Run `npx ruflo init --grok --dry-run` in the project to preview the files. (inferred, check the README)
2. Run `npx ruflo init --grok` to write the project host surface.
3. Read the Grok operator guide at v3/@claude-flow/cli/templates/grok/docs/README.md before using the spawn_subagent contract.
4. Re-check the setup when Grok updates, as the README advises.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the repo ruvnet/ruflo, preview then write the Grok Build project surface into <project path> with `npx ruflo init --grok`. Expected output: a .grok/ folder and team bus files inside the project only. Verify that no files were written outside the project directory.
```

### Caveat

The README says the Grok setup should be re-checked when Grok updates, so the surface may need changes after an update.

Dual-use notice: only use this on software, sites and systems you own or are authorized to test.
