## How to generate a PBR material set and apply it to a mesh with Blender Plugin

Repo: [scenario-labs/blender-plugin](https://github.com/scenario-labs/blender-plugin) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 60 minutes | Basis: From the README

Create a saved PBR texture set with Scenario and assign it to one chosen material slot.

**Who it is for:** A 3D artist or environment modeler who has a finished mesh in Blender and needs a surface texture set faster than hand painting.

**The problem:** Texturing a mesh by hand takes time, and a generated texture set must be applied without overwriting other material slots.

**The outcome:** A saved PBR texture set that is applied explicitly to the material slot you pick, with the generation kept in Generations.

### Steps

1. Turn on Allow Online Access under Edit > Preferences > System > Network, then add the official repository at https://blender.scenario.com/repo/index.json under Get Extensions > Repositories and install Scenario.
2. Create an API key in Scenario under Organization settings > API Keys, then paste the key and secret under Edit > Preferences > Add-ons > Scenario and press Test connection.
3. Select the mesh in the 3D viewport, press N, open Scenario and choose the Materials lane.
4. Enter a prompt, review the displayed CU estimate, then press Generate.
5. Open the saved result in Generations and apply the texture set to the chosen mesh material slot.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the scenario-labs/blender-plugin extension in Blender 5.0 or later, generate a saved PBR texture set for the mesh named <mesh name> and apply it only to the material slot <slot name>. Report the saved set name and the CU estimate shown before Generate. Verify that the other material slots on the mesh are unchanged.
```

### Caveat

Generations and prompt helpers spend CU, so review the estimate shown before each Generate.

Risk, credentials: The API key and secret are stored in Blender preferences rather than an OS keychain, so anyone with access to that Blender profile can read them.

## How to let a coding agent read and edit the open Blender scene with Blender Plugin

Repo: [scenario-labs/blender-plugin](https://github.com/scenario-labs/blender-plugin) | Difficulty: Advanced | Time: 90 minutes | Basis: From the README

Connect Claude Code, Codex or Cursor to the local scenario-blender MCP server.

**Who it is for:** A technical artist or developer who wants an AI coding agent to inspect the open scene and request Scenario generations for it.

**The problem:** Doing repetitive scene work or generation requests by hand in Blender is slow when the same steps repeat across many objects.

**The outcome:** A connected agent that can read the open scene and request generation work through the local MCP server, with its results visible in Blender.

### Steps

1. Install Scenario from the official repository and finish the key and secret setup from the Add-ons panel.
2. Open the Agents (MCP) section in the Scenario preferences and check the local endpoint status at http://127.0.0.1:9876/mcp.
3. Press a Connect button to add scenario-blender to Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or Claude Desktop.
4. Read the MCP reference in docs/MCP.md for tool contracts and security controls before granting any permission.
5. Start Blender with the open scene and keep the agent session connected to the local server while it works. (inferred, check the README)

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the scenario-labs/blender-plugin MCP server named scenario-blender at http://127.0.0.1:9876/mcp, read the open scene in Blender and list the objects named <object prefix>. Report the object list and the tools available. Verify that no paid generation is requested unless I confirm it.
```

### Caveat

Arbitrary Python execution is a separate opt-in permission that is disabled by default, and connected agents spend credits on your account.

Risk, credentials: The local endpoint needs no credential, so any program on this computer can connect and read the scene or request paid work.

## How to turn a written scene description into a greybox layout with Blender Plugin

Repo: [scenario-labs/blender-plugin](https://github.com/scenario-labs/blender-plugin) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 60 minutes | Basis: From the README

Use Blockout to build a rough blocked-out set from a text description.

**Who it is for:** A previs artist or level designer who needs a quick layout to test camera and blocking before detailed modeling.

**The problem:** Blocking out a space by hand before a shot is decided costs time that a rough layout could save.

**The outcome:** A greybox layout in the scene that you can refine or rebuild with Blockout.

### Steps

1. Install Scenario from the official repository, turn on Allow Online Access, then add your key and secret and press Test connection.
2. Choose an Output Folder for generated files in the Scenario add-on preferences.
3. Open the 3D viewport, press N and select the Scenario panel.
4. Open the Blockout section and enter a written scene description.
5. Review the CU estimate, press Generate, then refine or rebuild the layout in Blockout.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the scenario-labs/blender-plugin Blockout feature in Blender 5.0 or later, turn this scene description into a greybox layout: <scene description>. Report the number of objects created and the CU estimate. Verify that the layout appears in the scene and can be rebuilt from Blockout.
```

### Caveat

The extension is labeled Experimental, so check the known limitations in docs/KNOWN_LIMITATIONS.md before using Blockout on a client project.

## How to generate a 360 HDRI environment and apply it to the World with Blender Plugin

Repo: [scenario-labs/blender-plugin](https://github.com/scenario-labs/blender-plugin) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 45 minutes | Basis: From the README

Create a panorama or HDRI with Scenario and set it as the scene World background.

**Who it is for:** A lighting artist or 3D generalist who needs an environment map for a scene and has no HDRI on hand.

**The problem:** Finding a matching HDRI or panorama for a scene takes search time, and lighting depends on it.

**The outcome:** A generated 360 environment applied to the scene World, ready to light the render.

### Steps

1. Install Scenario and complete the key and secret setup in the Add-ons panel.
2. Open the 3D viewport, press N and select Scenario.
3. Choose the Environment lane and enter a prompt for the panorama or HDRI.
4. Review the CU estimate, then press Generate.
5. Apply the chosen result to the scene World from the Environment controls.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the scenario-labs/blender-plugin Environment lane in Blender 5.0 or later, generate a 360 panorama for the prompt <prompt text> and apply it to the scene World. Report the CU estimate and the result name. Verify that the World background shows the new environment in the viewport.
```

### Caveat

Generations spend CU, and the World change is only applied when you choose it in the Environment controls.

## How to build a short film from a JSON recipe with Blender Plugin

Repo: [scenario-labs/blender-plugin](https://github.com/scenario-labs/blender-plugin) | Difficulty: Advanced | Time: 90 minutes | Basis: From the README

Turn a JSON recipe into shots, a timeline, a review scene and an exported video.

**Who it is for:** A small-team film maker or previs lead who plans shots in a structured file and wants Blender to assemble them.

**The problem:** Assembling many shots, a timeline and a review scene by hand for each draft is repetitive and easy to get wrong.

**The outcome:** Shots and a timeline built from your recipe, a review scene, and an exported video.

### Steps

1. Install Scenario and finish the key and secret setup with Test connection.
2. Write a JSON recipe that describes your shots.
3. Open the Film tasks section in the Scenario panel and load the recipe.
4. Review the shots and the timeline Blender creates, then check the review scene.
5. Run the export from Film tasks to produce the video file in your Output Folder.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the scenario-labs/blender-plugin Film tasks feature in Blender 5.0 or later, build shots and a timeline from the JSON recipe at <recipe path> and export a video. Report the shot count and the export path. Verify that the review scene and exported video both exist.
```

### Caveat

Shots from generated video or audio still spend CU, so check the cost preview before each Generate.
