# AI use cases for Meetcap (seacen/meetcap)

Repo: [seacen/meetcap](https://github.com/seacen/meetcap) | Use cases: 3 | Page: https://dedupedai.com/use-cases/seacen-meetcap/

MeetCap is a Mac meeting assistant that records and transcribes meetings on your computer, writes live summaries and minutes, and lets an AI agent start recordings and search past meetings.

This file holds every use case of this repo. Each one starts with a "## " heading and ends with its URL.

## How to find what was agreed in past meetings by asking your agent with Meetcap

Repo: [seacen/meetcap](https://github.com/seacen/meetcap) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 1 hour | Basis: From the README

Ask your agent a question and get the meeting, the decision, and a link back to the exact line.

**Who it is for:** A team lead or account manager who needs to recall a price, deadline or decision from meetings held weeks earlier.

**The problem:** Decisions and figures from older meetings are hard to find in memory, notes or scattered recordings.

**The outcome:** The agent answers the question with the meeting it came from and the line where it was said, so the answer can be checked.

### Steps

1. Download MeetCap from https://meetcap.seacen.dev/download, open it and follow the short setup, or run `curl -fsSL https://meetcap.seacen.dev/install.sh | bash` in the terminal.
2. Record your meetings with MeetCap from the menu bar, a hotkey, your agent, or a schedule so that transcripts and minutes are saved.
3. Load the MeetCap agent skill from the seacen/meetcap repository into your agent, such as Claude Code or Codex.
4. Ask your agent a question about a past decision, for example what price was agreed with a supplier last month.
5. Open the linked meeting point and check that the line matches the answer.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the seacen/meetcap repository and its agent skill, search my past meeting records for <topic or question> and report the meeting date, the agreed decision, and the transcript line it came from. Verify that the cited line actually contains the decision before you answer.
```

### Caveat

MeetCap is not open source, so you cannot inspect its code; this repository only holds its releases and agent skill.

Risk, remote script: The terminal install pipes a script from Meetcap.seacen.dev straight into bash, so download the app from the download page instead if you do not want to run a remote script.

## How to keep minutes local for meetings that cannot leave the room with Meetcap

Repo: [seacen/meetcap](https://github.com/seacen/meetcap) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 1 hour | Basis: From the README

Transcribe and write minutes on your own computer with MeetCap's local model, with no key or account.

**Who it is for:** A manager or advisor in a confidential meeting whose content must not be sent to any outside service.

**The problem:** Cloud AI tools would send the meeting text to a provider, which is not allowed for some meetings.

**The outcome:** You get a transcript and minutes that stay on your computer, exported as Word or PDF if you need to share them.

### Steps

1. Download MeetCap from https://meetcap.seacen.dev/download, open it and follow the setup.
2. Choose MeetCap's local model when you are asked which AI writes your summaries and minutes, so MeetCap downloads and sets it up on your computer.
3. Start the recording from the menu bar before the meeting, and let it run offline.
4. When the meeting ends, open the minutes, fix any flagged or misheard names, and confirm the speakers.
5. Export the minutes to Word or PDF only if the recipients are allowed to receive them.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the seacen/meetcap repository, set MeetCap to its local model and record the meeting <meeting name>. Expected output: a transcript and minutes saved on this computer. Verify that no network request carries meeting text by checking the setting shows the local model is selected.
```

### Caveat

The README says the local model keeps even the text on your computer, but the model and speaker recognition details are only in the docs, so check them before relying on this for confidential work.

## How to get live summaries and minutes from your background agent with Meetcap

Repo: [seacen/meetcap](https://github.com/seacen/meetcap) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 1 hour | Basis: From the README

Let MeetCap run your existing agent in the background to catch you up mid-meeting and write minutes after.

**Who it is for:** A professional in a fast-moving or unfamiliar meeting who wants catch-up notes without opening a chat window.

**The problem:** Attention drifts in long or new-topic meetings, and writing minutes afterward takes time.

**The outcome:** Short live summaries during the meeting and clear minutes ready when it ends, with terms explained.

### Steps

1. Download MeetCap from https://meetcap.seacen.dev/download, open it and follow the setup.
2. Choose an agent you already have, such as Claude Code or Codex, as the one MeetCap runs in the background.
3. Start the recording from the menu bar, a hotkey, or a schedule before the meeting begins.
4. Read the live summary every few minutes and check the note on any unfamiliar term.
5. When the meeting ends, review the minutes, confirm names so they go into the glossary, and forward or export them.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the seacen/meetcap repository, configure MeetCap to run <agent name> in the background and record the meeting <meeting name>. Expected output: a live summary during the meeting and minutes when it ends. Verify that the minutes open with the reason for the meeting and that each point links to a transcript line.
```

### Caveat

The README says MeetCap works with 20+ agents on the subscription you already have, but it names only Claude Code and Codex, so confirm your agent is supported before the meeting.
