An open-source Claude Code and Codex skill that turns a topic or document into a narrated, black-canvas motion-graphics explainer video built in code with Remotion.

This file holds every use case of this repo. Each one starts with a "## " heading and ends with its URL.

## How to turn a topic into a narrated explainer video with Anything2 Explainer

Repo: [Vincentwei1021/anything2explainer](https://github.com/Vincentwei1021/anything2explainer) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 3 hours | Basis: From the README

Give an agent a topic and get a 1280x720 MP4 with voiceover, subtitles and chapter progress.

**Who it is for:** A content creator or educator who needs a short explainer video on a technical topic and has no motion-graphics tooling.

**The problem:** Producing a narrated explainer video by hand means sourcing facts, writing a script, recording voiceover, timing shots and animating each frame.

**The outcome:** A rendered H.264 MP4 with synchronized voiceover, subtitles, chapter cards and a bottom progress bar, plus the research doc, narration, storyboard and QC reports.

### Steps

1. `git clone https://github.com/Vincentwei1021/anything2explainer.git`
2. `ln -s "$PWD/anything2explainer" ~/.claude/skills/anything2explainer`  (or ~/.codex/skills/anything2explainer for Codex)
3. `brew install ffmpeg`, then create the Python venv and run `pip install 'edge-tts==7.2.8' numpy pillow scipy`
4. In Claude Code or Codex, say: Make me an explainer video about <topic>.
5. At checkpoint 1 choose the length and language; at checkpoint 2 sign off the narration before voiceover is generated.
6. At checkpoint 4 review the first 30-second preview before the agents build the remaining shot groups.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the anything2explainer skill in this repo, make a narrated explainer video about <topic>, in <language> and about <length> long. Stop at the four checkpoints for my approval. Verify that the final output is a 1280x720 H.264 MP4 with voiceover and subtitles, and that the research doc lists a URL for every number or claim.
```

### Caveat

A full run takes roughly 1 to 3 hours of wall clock, mostly parallel build agents, so plan for it to run unattended for a while.

## How to convert an article or document into a video with Anything2 Explainer

Repo: [Vincentwei1021/anything2explainer](https://github.com/Vincentwei1021/anything2explainer) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 3 hours | Basis: From the README

Feed a written article or document to the skill and get a narrated video of its key ideas.

**Who it is for:** A team lead or writer who already has a long-form document and wants a short video version for onboarding or sharing.

**The problem:** Rewriting a document as a script and then as video shots takes a lot of manual work, and the video often drifts from the source.

**The outcome:** A narrated video that follows the document's ideas, with the research doc keeping sources for each claim.

### Steps

1. Install the skill as in the topic-to-video use case: `ln -s "$PWD/anything2explainer" ~/.claude/skills/anything2explainer`
2. Pick the target length and language at checkpoint 1, matching the length table in the README.
3. Ask the agent to base the narration on your document, then review the narration at checkpoint 2 before any voiceover is generated.
4. Check the first 30 seconds at checkpoint 4 to confirm the look before the full build.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the anything2explainer skill in this repo, turn the document at <path-to-document> into a narrated explainer video in <language>, about <length> long. Pause at the narration sign-off so I can edit the script. Verify that the narration covers the main points of the document and that the output is an MP4 with subtitles and chapter progress.
```

### Caveat

The README says the skill accepts an article or document as input, but it does not say how long a source it can handle, so check the narration against the original before sign-off.

## How to build a video from your own narration audio with Anything2 Explainer

Repo: [Vincentwei1021/anything2explainer](https://github.com/Vincentwei1021/anything2explainer) | Difficulty: Advanced | Time: 2 hours | Basis: From the README

Use the Remotion template with finished audio and a hand-filled timeline instead of the built-in TTS.

**Who it is for:** A developer or editor who already records or generates voiceover elsewhere and wants the animated visuals and subtitles added in code.

**The problem:** Existing voiceover needs frame-accurate timing, shot layout and subtitles, which takes manual work without a template.

**The outcome:** A rendered MP4 that plays your audio with shots, subtitles and chapter bars timed to it, plus a preview cut for review.

### Steps

1. `git clone https://github.com/Vincentwei1021/anything2explainer.git`
2. `template/scripts/new_project.sh ~/work/my-video myslug`
3. `cd ~/work/my-video`
4. Put your finished audio at `public/assets/ /audio.wav`, then fill `src/common/timeline.ts` and `subs.ts` by hand, following the format documented at the top of `tts_build.py`.
5. Run `scripts/preview.sh 30` to check the first 30 seconds, then `VER=v1 scripts/render.sh` for the full render.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In the anything2explainer repo, scaffold a new Remotion project at ~/work/<slug> with template/scripts/new_project.sh, add my finished audio file <path-to-audio> with a hand-filled timeline and subtitles, and render a 30-second preview. Verify that the preview plays with the audio and that subtitles line up with the spoken words.
```

### Caveat

The README says the timeline and subtitle files must be filled in by hand, and the exact format is documented only in a comment at the top of tts_build.py, so read that before starting.

## How to render explainer videos on a Raspberry Pi 5 with Anything2 Explainer

Repo: [Vincentwei1021/anything2explainer](https://github.com/Vincentwei1021/anything2explainer) | Difficulty: Advanced | Time: 2 hours | Basis: From the README

Run the full pipeline on ARM Linux with system Chromium and a local or cloud voice engine.

**Who it is for:** A hobbyist or maker with a Raspberry Pi 5 who wants to make explainer videos without a Mac.

**The problem:** The default Remotion browser and the kokoro voice engine do not install cleanly on ARM Linux with Python 3.13.

**The outcome:** A rendered explainer MP4 produced on a Raspberry Pi 5, using system Chromium and an ARM-friendly voice engine.

### Steps

1. `sudo apt install zsh espeak-ng` and `sudo apt install chromium`
2. `export REMOTION_BROWSER_EXECUTABLE=/usr/bin/chromium`
3. `pip install piper-tts`, download a voice model from github.com/rhasspy/piper, then run `TTS_ENGINE=piper PIPER_MODEL=<path-to-model>.onnx python3 scripts/tts_build.py` (inferred, check the README)
4. Follow the topic-to-video steps to scaffold the project and storyboard, then run `VER=v1 scripts/render.sh`.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
On this Raspberry Pi 5 with the anything2explainer repo cloned, set REMOTION_BROWSER_EXECUTABLE to the system Chromium and generate voiceover with TTS_ENGINE=piper, then render a short test video. Verify that the render finishes and produces an MP4 that plays with audio.
```

### Caveat

The README verifies this on a Raspberry Pi 5 with Python 3.13 and says Windows is untested, so expect to troubleshoot other setups.
