## How to find a Claude Code mod that matches your task with Awesome Claude Mods

Repo: [wh000wh000/awesome-claude-mods](https://github.com/wh000wh000/awesome-claude-mods) | Difficulty: Beginner | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Filter 597 mod entries by how well each one is verified before you install anything.

**Who it is for:** A developer using Claude Code who wants a mod for a specific job, such as a status band or a helper agent, and does not want to trust unverified claims.

**The problem:** Most lists of Claude Code extensions assert that an entry belongs there without saying how much was checked.

**The outcome:** A short list of candidate mods, each labelled with the evidence grade the index assigns, ready to review.

### Steps

1. Open https://github.com/wh000wh000/awesome-claude-mods in a browser.
2. Read the section 'How entries are graded' to learn the four evidence grades.
3. Open the 'Mods: built with the mod capability' section, which lists 459 entries.
4. Pick entries whose grade is 'its own text names a mod API, or it declares the mod capability' or higher, then open each card and read its summary and data.
5. Check the project's own repository before installing it.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using the repository wh000wh000/awesome-claude-mods, find up to five mods that match <task description>, keeping only entries whose evidence grade is at least 'its own text names a mod API, or it declares the mod capability'. Return a table with name, GitHub link, grade, and one line on what it does. Verify that each link opens to the project's own repository before listing it.
```

### Caveat

A grade describes how much evidence exists, not how good the project is, so a well-built mod can still be graded as unconfirmed.

## How to turn on the built-in You should know mod with Awesome Claude Mods

Repo: [wh000wh000/awesome-claude-mods](https://github.com/wh000wh000/awesome-claude-mods) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Enable Anthropic's built-in side agent that flags things you or Claude might miss.

**Who it is for:** A Claude Code user on a first-party session with telemetry on who wants a second set of eyes on work in progress.

**The problem:** Work in a long Claude Code session can drift, and it is easy to miss a point that a second reviewer would catch.

**The outcome:** The You should know mod is active in your session and its flags appear while you work.

### Steps

1. Update Claude Code to version 2.1.287 or later.
2. Confirm that your session is first-party and that telemetry is on, as the release note requires.
3. In Claude Code, run `/plugin enable cc-plugin-you-should-know@builtin`.
4. Continue a normal task and watch for the mod's flags in the session.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
In a Claude Code session on version 2.1.287 or later with telemetry on, run `/plugin enable cc-plugin-you-should-know@builtin`, then confirm the mod is enabled and report what it shows after one task. Do not change any other plugin settings.
```

### Caveat

The release note ties this mod to first-party sessions with telemetry on, so it may not be available in other setups.

## How to review a community mod before you install it with Awesome Claude Mods

Repo: [wh000wh000/awesome-claude-mods](https://github.com/wh000wh000/awesome-claude-mods) | Difficulty: Advanced | Time: 45 minutes | Basis: From the README

Read a third-party mod's own repository and check its mod API use before running it.

**Who it is for:** A developer who has picked a community mod from the index and must decide whether it is safe to run in a session with their code.

**The problem:** A mod can change deeper behaviour than a plugin could, and the index does not install or run anything for you.

**The outcome:** A written go or no-go decision on one mod, based on its source and the mod surface it uses.

### Steps

1. Open the mod's card in the index and follow its link to the project's own repository.
2. Read the README and check which mod surface it names, such as ui.render, ui.fault, agent.spawn or $.ui.selection().
3. Read the code that runs on install, paying attention to any downloads or shell commands it runs.
4. Test the mod in a throwaway project before enabling it in your main work. (inferred, check the README)
5. Record the decision and the reason.

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Review the community Claude Code mod at <repository URL>, listed in wh000wh000/awesome-claude-mods. Report which mod APIs it uses, every shell command or network call in its install and hook code, and a go or no-go recommendation with reasons. Verify that the report cites specific file paths from the repository.
```

### Caveat

The index entries are summaries from upstream text and automated checks, so the source code of each mod still needs your own review.

Risk, remote script: Mods listed here are third-party code that can change deeper Claude Code behaviour, so read the source and test in a throwaway project before enabling one.

Dual-use notice: only use this on software, sites and systems you own or are authorized to test.
