open-web-bridge is a CLI, local daemon and Chrome extension that lets any shell-capable AI agent drive your real, logged-in browser tabs through the Chrome DevTools Protocol.

This file holds every use case of this repo. Each one starts with a "## " heading and ends with its URL.

## How to let your agent work in your logged-in browser with Open Web Bridge

Repo: [woniu9524/open-web-bridge](https://github.com/woniu9524/open-web-bridge) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 15 minutes | Basis: From the README

Install one CLI and extension so your agent can read and act in the tabs you already have open.

**Who it is for:** A developer who wants the agent to check a dashboard they are signed into.

**The problem:** Headless agent browsers can only reach public pages.

**The outcome:** Your agent reading and clicking in your real tabs with your session.

### Steps

1. Install with `npm i -g open-web-bridge`
2. Run `owb setup` and load the extension it points to
3. Run `owb` and wait for two checks to pass
4. Tell your agent to open a page and summarize it

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Using woniu9524/open-web-bridge, run `owb` to confirm the self-check passes, then open <url> in my browser and summarize the page. Verify you read the logged-in version of the page.
```

### Caveat

Everything the agent does happens in your actual browser profile, so keep sensitive tabs closed while it works.

Risk, credentials: The agent acts with your real cookies and sessions, so it can do anything you are signed in to do.

## How to cut agent tokens with semantic page snapshots with Open Web Bridge

Repo: [woniu9524/open-web-bridge](https://github.com/woniu9524/open-web-bridge) | Difficulty: Intermediate | Time: 30 minutes | Basis: From the README

Use read_page refs and since_last diffs so agents click by reference and only see what changed.

**Who it is for:** A developer whose browser agent runs out of context on long sessions.

**The problem:** Full page dumps drown an agent in tokens.

**The outcome:** Stable element refs and change-only snapshots that keep sessions small.

### Steps

1. Install the bundled skill with `npx skills add woniu9524/open-web-bridge -g -y`
2. Have the agent call read_page to get @eN refs
3. Use click and fill with those refs
4. Use since_last to read only changes

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
With open-web-bridge, read <url> using read_page, fill the form fields by @eN ref, and use since_last after submitting. Report the change and confirm you did not re-read the full page.
```

### Caveat

Refs are tied to the current page state, so take a fresh snapshot after navigation.

## How to drive your browser from a remote agent without opening ports with Open Web Bridge

Repo: [woniu9524/open-web-bridge](https://github.com/woniu9524/open-web-bridge) | Difficulty: Advanced | Time: 45 minutes | Basis: From the README

Enable relay mode so a cloud agent controls your local browser through a paired relay.

**Who it is for:** A developer running agents on a remote server who needs a real browser at home.

**The problem:** Exposing a local browser port to the internet is unsafe.

**The outcome:** A remote agent driving your browser with no inbound port on your machine.

### Steps

1. Install and set up Open Web Bridge locally
2. Follow the relay setup to pair the daemon and extension by token
3. Point the remote agent at the relay
4. Run a small task and confirm it reached your tab

### Prompt to paste into your agent

```text
Configure open-web-bridge relay mode for <remote host>, open <url> from the remote agent, and confirm the action happened in my local browser.
```

### Caveat

Relay mode is off by default and routes through a public relay you must deploy and trust.

Risk, credentials: Anyone holding the relay pairing token can drive your logged-in browser.
