Who it is forAn ML practitioner who wants faster generation or to understand how diffusion sampling works.
The problemDefault sampling settings are often slower than needed, and the pipeline hides how sampling works.
The outcomeA custom denoising loop or pipeline with a scheduler and step count you chose.
What you need first
- Python in a virtual environment
- PyTorch; install with `pip install --upgrade diffusers[torch]` or conda
- An NVIDIA GPU for the README examples, which call to cuda; Apple Silicon has its own guide
Steps
- Install with
pip install --upgrade diffusers[torch] - Load a scheduler and model separately, for example
DDPMScheduler.from_pretrained("google/ddpm-cat-256")and the UNet2DModel from the same repo - Set the number of steps with scheduler.set_timesteps(50)
- Loop over scheduler.timesteps, predict the noisy residual with the model and step the scheduler
- Try other schedulers from the Loading guide and compare speed and output quality
Prompt for your agent
Using huggingface/diffusers, write a denoising loop with DDPMScheduler and UNet2DModel from google/ddpm-cat-256 as in the README, then try two other schedulers at fewer steps and save a side-by-side image comparing speed and quality.
Caveat. The README's loop example runs on CUDA; adjust the device for CPU or Apple Silicon.
