Who it is forA developer who would rather describe a fine-tuning experiment to an agent than hand-edit YAML.
The problemTraining configs have many fields and the CLI has many commands, which slows down experimenting.
The outcomeAn agent that can call Oumi through MCP to set up and run experiments for you.
What you need first
- Python with uv or pip, or Docker
- A GPU for real training runs (install the gpu extra)
- Optional: cloud accounts for remote jobs with oumi launch
Steps
- Install Oumi with
uv pip install oumi - Set up the oumi-mcp MCP server for Claude or Cursor, following the Oumi docs
- Ask the agent to pick a recipe and adapt it to your dataset
- Review the config it writes before letting it start a training run
- Use
oumi deploylater if you want a dedicated inference endpoint on Fireworks or Parasail
Prompt for your agent
Set up the oumi-ai/oumi oumi-mcp MCP server in <Claude or Cursor>. Then pick a recipe for fine-tuning <model> on <dataset>, write the config, and show it to me before running anything.
Caveat. The README mentions oumi-mcp but leaves setup to the docs.
Use this in your AI agent
Ask your agent
Using the Deduped MCP, get the setup steps for oumi-ai/oumi and "Drive Oumi from Claude or Cursor"
Add Deduped to Claude Code once
claude mcp add --transport http deduped https://dedupedai.com/mcp
