PIF and Aramco announced the closing of a transaction in which Aramco, through a wholly owned subsidiary, acquires a 49% stake in HUMAIN, the Saudi AI company. PIF keeps the remaining 51%. The announcement came from Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, in a joint statement.
The money side is specific. Aramco will contribute approximately SAR 9.9 billion, or $2.6 billion, in cash to HUMAIN in 2026. On top of that, the two owners are contributing AI, compute and digital assets, plus capabilities and talent. Aramco is also transferring key AI assets as part of its stake, according to the statement.
HUMAIN launched in May 2025 and says it is building full-stack AI capabilities across four areas: next-generation data centers, high-performance infrastructure and cloud platforms, AI models including ALLaM, which it describes as one of the most powerful multimodal Arabic large language models, and AI solutions for industry. The company plans to deploy 3 gigawatts of AI data center capacity by 2030.
Both sides framed the deal strategically. Yazeed A. Al-Humied of PIF said bringing the two AI portfolios together under HUMAIN creates a synergy that fuels talent growth, technological advancement and intellectual property creation. Aramco CEO Amin H. Nasser said that since 2023 Aramco has achieved $11.3 billion in Technology Realized Value, with a significant portion coming from AI solutions. Aramco is expected to use HUMAIN's AI infrastructure for industrial applications.
For AI builders, the deal matters because compute is the scarce input, and an energy company with large cash flows now sits inside one of the region's biggest compute plans. HUMAIN says it wants to become one of the leading exporters of AI globally, which points to cloud capacity and Arabic language models being offered beyond Saudi Arabia.
The statement is forward looking and gives no customer names, chip suppliers or build timeline beyond the 2030 target. If you work with Arabic language models or Gulf cloud regions, watch HUMAIN's model releases and capacity announcements. The cash is due during 2026, so the next signals should be data center milestones and any new partnerships the company reveals.
