Who it is forA student or professional who needs the main claims of a long talk without watching it in full.

The problemWatching a 60-minute talk to find one claim takes time, and the agent cannot read a video page directly.

The outcomeThe agent fetches the transcript with timestamps and returns a summary and quotes tied to the moments they were said.

What you need first

  • An agent that reads the Agent Skills format, such as Claude Code, Cursor or Codex
  • A TranscriptOut API key starting with sk_, created on first run with an email code (free account, 100 credits)
  • Node.js with npx for the npx install path

Steps

  1. Run npx skills add artemchuikin/youtube-skills --skill youtube-full
  2. Ask the agent a question with the video link, for example: What does this video actually claim? [URL]
  3. Follow the in-chat prompt to enter your email and the 6-digit code, so the agent creates your sk_ key
  4. Ask for quotes or a summary and check that the quoted lines match the timestamps

Prompt for your agent

Using the youtube-skills repo, fetch the transcript of <video URL> with timestamps and write a five-bullet summary plus three quotes with their timestamps. Verify that each quote appears in the returned transcript text before you output it.

Caveat. Transcripts come from a hosted TranscriptOut API, so an API key and credits are required, and a video with no captions returns a 404 that still costs one credit.
