Who it is forA developer who starts a long Codex or Claude Code task on their Mac and leaves the room while it keeps running.
The problemThe agent stops and waits for approval on a command or a question, and nothing moves until you return to the computer.
The outcomeYou see the pending request on your phone or Apple Watch, approve, deny or reply, and the agent continues on your computer.
What you need first
- A Mac running macOS 26 or later, or a Linux machine (x86_64 or aarch64)
- An iPhone on iOS 26 or later, or an Android phone on Android 8.0 or later
- Codex or Claude Code installed on the computer that will run the tasks
- Xcode 27 on macOS 26 and Node.js 22 if you plan to build or test this repository
Steps
- Download the BotBus app for macOS from the DMG link on botbus.io and install it on your Mac.
- Install the BotBus app on your iPhone from the App Store page linked in the README.
- Open pairing from the Mac menu bar and scan the QR code with your phone.
- Start a Codex or Claude Code task on your computer, either from BotBus or from your own terminal or IDE.
- Open the task on your phone and approve, deny or answer the pending request.
Prompt for your agent
Using the BotBus setup described in botbus-io/botbus-protocol, confirm that the Mac app is paired with <phone name>. Report whether a Codex or Claude Code task on <computer name> is waiting for a request, and list the request kind and task ID without approving anything.
Caveat. The phone pairing and relay are closed source and not in this repository, so this repo only documents the wire contract the apps use.
