Authorization notice. Agent Foundation is dual-use. Only use it on software, sites and systems you own or have explicit permission to test.
Who it is forAn application developer who wants agents with typed tools, streaming output, and resumable state inside their own product.
The problemAgent logic tends to get tangled with product code, which makes tools, outputs, and saved state hard to reuse.
The outcomeA local checkout with the Harness package synced, ready for the quickstart and runnable examples.
What you need first
- Docker with Docker Compose for the self-hosted Service stack
- A model provider API key or an eligible ChatGPT plan
- Python 3.13 and uv for the Harness library or Harness UI
- A trusted machine, since Harness UI Full Control runs as your host account
Steps
git clone https://github.com/converge-ai-labs/agent-foundation.gitcd agent-foundationuv sync --locked --package a13n-harness- Follow the Harness quickstart at docs/a13n-harness/getting-started.md.
- Open examples/README.md and run one example that matches your application.
Prompt for your agent
In the agent-foundation repo, clone it, run `uv sync --locked --package a13n-harness`, and report the sync result. Then list the runnable examples in examples/README.md that use the Harness package and name one that fits <your-application-type>.
Caveat. The README says your application owns persistence, credentials, and recovery policy, so those parts are not provided by the library.
