How to review a pull request diff grouped by importance with Plugins

Render a PR diff as a review canvas so the most important changes are read first.

Who it is forA reviewer facing a large pull request who needs to decide where to spend review time.

The problemA long flat diff hides which changes matter most, so reviewers spend time on low-risk lines.

The outcomeA review canvas with the diff grouped by importance, starting with the highest-impact changes.

What you need first

  • Access to the cursor/plugins repository on GitHub
  • Cursor set up to use plugins
  • Basic familiarity with the .cursor-plugin/plugin.json manifest each plugin needs

Steps

  1. Open the pr-review-canvas/ directory and read its plugin description.
  2. Load the pull request diff you want to review into Cursor.
  3. Run the pr-review-canvas plugin on that diff.
  4. Read the canvas groups from top to bottom and note the high-importance changes first.
  5. Record your review comments against the groups you checked.

Prompt for your agent

Using the pr-review-canvas plugin from the cursor/plugins repo, render the diff for pull request <pr-number> as a review canvas grouped by importance. Output the groups in order with a one-line reason for each. Verify that every changed file appears in exactly one group.

Caveat. The README does not say how the diff is loaded into the plugin, so check the pr-review-canvas/ directory for the input method.
