Who it is forA developer or reviewer who wants to see what the dashboard shows before installing GPU tools or loading a model.
The problemSetting up servers and drivers just to see a dashboard layout is slow, and the layout may not suit the terminal they use.
The outcomeA rendered dashboard with synthetic server and GPU data, plus a check that the terminal shows truecolour correctly.
What you need first
- Rust toolchain 1.75 or newer
- A C compiler, needed by the bundled SQLite used for --log-db
- A locally listening llama-server for throughput panels (the demo mode needs none)
- nvidia-smi for NVIDIA GPU panels, xpu-smi for Intel, the amdgpu driver for AMD, or macmon on Apple silicon
Steps
- Install a Rust toolchain (1.75 or newer) and run
git clone https://github.com/DingoOz/llm-visuals. - Run
cd llm-visualsand thencargo run --release -- --demo. - Step through the views with the keys listed under Keys in the README and press
qto quit. - If colours look flat in a non-Windows-Terminal console, relaunch with the color option described in the README, for example
--color truecolor.
Prompt for your agent
Using the repo DingoOz/llm-visuals, run `cargo run --release -- --demo` in a terminal of at least 140 by 44 characters. Expected output: a dashboard showing a synthetic server and two synthetic GPUs. Verify that pressing `q` restores the terminal cleanly.
Caveat. Demo mode uses synthetic data, so its numbers show the layout only and say nothing about a real model's speed.
