How to fetch task-specific skills from SkillHub for an agent with Skill Corpus

Search the hosted SkillHub catalog with a plain task description and inject the matching SKILL.md text into a prompt.

Authorization notice. Skill Corpus is dual-use. Only use it on software, sites and systems you own or have explicit permission to test.

Who it is forA developer building an agent who needs step-by-step procedures for a specific task, such as extracting tables from PDFs, and wants them without writing the prompt by hand.

The problemGeneric model knowledge often misses exact steps, edge cases, or supporting scripts for a narrow task.

The outcomeThe agent receives the full skill_md instructions for the best-matching skills before it starts the task.

What you need first

  • Internet access to reach the hosted SkillHub API or the plugin install guide
  • Python 3 for the example script or the self-hosting setup
  • An OpenAI-compatible API key only if you use the --ask option of the example script
  • PyTorch and transformers (from skillcorpus/match/requirements.txt) and a machine able to run two 0.6B models for self-hosting

Steps

  1. Run curl "https://skillhub.evermind.ai/openapi/v1/skills?q=extract+tables+from+a+PDF" and note the id of a relevant result.
  2. Fetch the skill_md for that id using the read tier described in docs/integrations.md.
  3. Insert the returned skill_md text into your agent's system or task prompt.
  4. Run your agent on the task and check that it follows the injected steps.

Prompt for your agent

Using the SkillCorpus API at https://skillhub.evermind.ai/openapi/v1/skills, search for skills matching the task <task description>, pick the most relevant result, fetch its skill_md, and output the injected prompt text. Verify that the returned skill_md is non-empty and that the skill license is shown in the metadata before using it.

Caveat. The README says each skill keeps its upstream license, so check the license field of any skill before reusing its content in your product.
