Who it is forEngineering manager evaluating whether a coding agent is safe to trust with team repos
The problemYou can't tell from demos whether the agent silently fails, fakes tool use or falls for injected instructions.
The outcomeA quick graded scorecard covering checks like prompt injection, fake tool use and silent failures.
What you need first
- Python 3.10+
- An API key for the model provider you want to test or to act as judge (the engine is free, model calls cost extra)
- An agent or model endpoint to audit (any supported provider, or your agent's own HTTP endpoint)
- Optional: uv, only for the zero-install skill route
Steps
- Install your provider extra: pip install "ifixai[anthropic]"
- Run the wizard: ifixai setup
- Run the default 10-inspection suite: ifixai run
- Read which categories lost points and decide what to fix first
Prompt for your agent
Use ifixai-ai/iFixAi to run the default audit on my coding agent <agent or model name>. Summarize the grade and the three weakest categories. Verify the run used the default suite and not a full run by checking the report.
Caveat. The default run covers 10 inspections; a full run of all 60 takes longer and costs more in model calls.
About iFixAi
An auditing tool that checks whether an AI agent is doing what it is supposed to do. Part of this week's top 10 repos: ranked #10 on Repo Radar. View ifixai-ai/iFixAi on GitHub.
More with iFixAi
- Have a different vendor's model judge your agent's behavior Choose an independent judge so the agent is not grading its own homework.
- Grade a new AI agent against your business rules before launch Run a short audit that scores whether your agent follows your roles, policies and permissions.
- Let Claude Code or Codex run the audit and explain the results Install the plugin and ask in plain English; the agent builds the fixture, runs it and walks you through the scorecard.
- Test an agent's permission boundaries before granting it delete access Point the audit at your agent's endpoint to see whether it respects role limits before you widen its powers.
- Add an audit slash command to Cursor, Gemini or Zed in one step Scaffold a native /ifixai-skill command into the coding agent you already use, no plugin needed.
- Fail your CI build when an agent audit regresses Script the audit with explicit CLI flags so every release is graded and the report is saved as an artifact.
- Find harmful chains of allowed actions with Policy Lab Use the offline Policy Lab to find the shortest harmful sequence of permitted actions and test permission fixes.
