How to turn your own footage into a scrubbing scroll page in Codex with Scroll Craft

Use your own photos and video in Codex to build a page where scroll drives the footage.

Who it is forA creator or small business owner using Codex who already has product or brand footage and wants it to scrub under the scroll wheel.

The problemVideo on a web page usually plays instead of responding to scroll, and clips often need re-encoding before they will scrub smoothly.

The outcomeA scroll-driven page built from your own media, with clips encoded for scrubbing, and no generation spend.

What you need first

  • Node 18+
  • A full ffmpeg build (scroll-craft notes that some toolchains ship a stripped ffmpeg)
  • playwright-core and Chrome, installed with npm i playwright-core in the build folder
  • Your own photos or footage, or a KIE_AI_API_KEY if you want assets generated

Steps

  1. Copy the complete scroll-craft folder from plugins/nateherk-design/skills/scroll-craft/ into your project's .agents/skills/ directory
  2. Run node plugins/nateherk-design/skills/scroll-craft/scripts/doctor.mjs and fix any faults it reports before building
  3. Run node plugins/nateherk-design/skills/scroll-craft/scripts/workspace.mjs --ensure
  4. Put your photos and footage in the build folder, then run the encode script at scripts/encode.mjs so clips scrub instead of playing (inferred, check the README)
  5. Ask Codex to use the Scrollcraft skill to build the page from your media

Prompt for your agent

Using the scroll-craft skill in the nateherkai/scroll-craft repo, build a scroll-driven page from my own footage in <media folder> for <target product>. Do not use generated assets. Expected output: a page where the footage scrubs with scroll. Verify that the doctor script reports a full ffmpeg build and that no clip is stuck on a poster frame.

Caveat. The README says building from your own footage needs no key and no spend, but a full ffmpeg build is required for the encoding step to work.
