How to add a pass or fail review check to pull requests with No Human

Run the adversarial reviewer and tamper guard as a GitHub Action on each pull request.

Credentials. The Action runs with your Anthropic credential, so store it only as a repository secret and pin a reviewed commit SHA rather than a moving branch or tag.

Who it is forA repository owner who wants an automated review comment with file and line citations on every pull request, without running a daemon.

The problemPull requests from people or agents get merged on a quick read, and the team wants a consistent second review that is recorded on the pull request.

The outcomeEach pull request gets one pass or fail checklist comment that updates in place, and runs that cannot review fail with exit code 2 instead of passing.

What you need first

  • Python 3.12+
  • uv
  • git
  • Node with npm, for the board build from source
  • An Anthropic credential: an ANTHROPIC_API_KEY or a Claude subscription OAuth token from claude setup-token
  • A git repository you want changed, and a GitHub or GitLab issue URL or a configured tracker

Steps

  1. Create .github/workflows/review-gate.yml with the example from the README, including the explicit checkout ref for the pull request head SHA.
  2. Store your Anthropic credential as the repository secret ANTHROPIC_API_KEY, or a Claude OAuth token from claude setup-token.
  3. Replace the tag in the uses line with a reviewed commit SHA of no-human-ai/no_human.
  4. Open a pull request and read the checklist comment that the Action posts.
  5. Treat a skipped fork pull request or an empty-diff synthetic PASS as did not review, not as approval.

Prompt for your agent

In the repo <owner/repo>, add the no_human review-gate workflow with a pinned reviewed commit SHA and the secret ANTHROPIC_API_KEY. Open a test pull request and report the checklist comment and the exit status, and confirm the head SHA checkout is set.

Caveat. The Action reviews only the diff and does not collect lint, wiring, or type evidence or explore the repository, and there is no v1 tag yet.
