Who it is forA shopper waiting for a price drop on a game or product before buying.
The problemChecking a price by hand is tedious, and the moment it drops is easy to miss.
The outcomeRome keeps watching the price and tells you when it drops below your threshold.
What you need first
- Docker with Docker Compose (for self-hosting), or a Rome Cloud preview account at https://romeos.cc/login
- A clone of the rome-os/rome repository, or the quickstart script
- Access to the accounts or data the use case needs, such as a repository, inbox, or chat channel, granted only as far as the task requires
Steps
- Run
git clone https://github.com/rome-os/rome.git - Run
cd rome - Run
./scripts/quickstart-docker.sh - Open http://localhost:7663 and connect a chat channel such as Telegram, Discord, or WhatsApp if you want alerts there.
- Ask Rome: "Track the price of <product-url> and let me know when it drops below <target-price>."
Prompt for your agent
Using the rome-os/rome instance at http://localhost:7663, ask Rome to track the price of <product-url> and notify me when it drops below <target-price>. Expected output: a confirmation that the price is being watched and a notification when the threshold is crossed. Verify that a test notification reaches the chosen chat channel.
Caveat. The README gives price tracking as an example request and does not say which retailers or price sources Rome can read, so test with one product before trusting the alert.
