How to let an AI agent read your servers through local MCP with Maid Kit

Expose Maid Kit's servers, snippets, and skills to an MCP client on the same machine, with approval for actions.

Remote script. Snippets and agent actions run commands on connected servers, so approve only the actions you have read.

Who it is forA developer who already uses an AI assistant and wants it to inspect servers on this machine without copying credentials into the chat.

The problemAsking an assistant about server state means pasting logs and commands by hand, which is slow and risks exposing secrets.

The outcomeAn MCP client that can list your Maid Kit servers and snippets, and propose server actions that wait for your approval.

What you need first

  • Flutter SDK installed (SDK ^3.12.2)
  • SSH access to the target server with a working login
  • For Linux builds: the apt packages listed in the README (ninja-build, libgtk-3-dev, libayatana-appindicator3-dev, keybinder-3.0, libnotify-dev)
  • A Solarpass account if you want MaidCafe Cloud features

Steps

  1. Run the app with flutter run from the repo folder.
  2. Enable the Local MCP Server in Maid Kit settings. (inferred, check the README)
  3. Add Maid Kit to your MCP client's configuration using the address and transport the app displays. (inferred, check the README)
  4. Ask the agent to list the servers you have added.
  5. Review each proposed action in review mode before approving it.

Prompt for your agent

With the Solsynth/MaidKit app running from `flutter run`, connect an MCP client to its local MCP Server and ask it to list the servers in MaidKit. Expected output: a list of server names matching those on the Dashboard. Verify that a proposed action from the agent waits for approval before it runs on <server-name>.

Caveat. The README says the local server exposes servers, snippets, and skills to clients such as Claude Desktop, but it does not document the connection settings, so the setup steps marked inferred must be checked in the app.
