Credentials. AUTH_SECRET signs logins and must be unique per installation, so store the generated value safely and do not commit it to git.
Who it is forA developer or team lead who wants a task board for human and AI-agent work without sending data to a hosted service.
The problemHosted task tools send work data to third parties, and many teams cannot accept that for internal engineering work.
The outcomeA running OverClick instance on your machine or server, with a local admin account and an onboarding flow for your first project.
What you need first
- Git installed locally
- Docker with Compose to run the stack
- openssl to generate AUTH_SECRET
- Claude Code CLI for the agent steps (any MCP-capable agent also works)
- A browser to open http://localhost:3000 and create the local admin account
Steps
- Run
git clone https://github.com/ustoppble/overclick && cd overclick - Run
export AUTH_SECRET="$(openssl rand -base64 32)"and store the value in your protected environment so restarts reuse it - Run
docker compose up --build - Open http://localhost:3000 and create the local admin account with an e-mail and password
- Follow the 3-step onboarding: project, executors, connect your agent
Prompt for your agent
Clone the ustoppble/overclick repository, generate AUTH_SECRET with openssl, and start the stack with docker compose up --build. Confirm the web app responds at http://localhost:3000 and report the URL and the step where it stopped, if any.
Caveat. The README says the onboarding wizard, settings, and insights are still landing, so expect a v0.1 setup with some flows not yet built.
Use this in your AI agent
Ask your agent
Using the Deduped MCP, get the setup steps for ustoppble/overclick and "Run a private task board on your own server"
Add Deduped to Claude Code once
