Anthropic says Claude traced the mysterious NIST curve seeds to a 1990s random number generator.
The elliptic curves behind much of web encryption start from seed numbers the NSA supplied around 2000 with no explanation, which fed 25 years of backdoor suspicion and a public bounty. Anthropic's Frontier Red Team says an internal Claude model cracked it in under half an hour: a quirk in the numbers pointed to the old lrand48 generator, seeded with computer clock times from 1997 and 1998. Anthropic says it is not a weakness.

A job hunt you run from inside Claude
After his wife was laid off, a developer built a job search site with Claude Code, then turned it into an MCP server so Claude itself can search about 15,000 new jobs a day, tailor your resume, and submit applications once you approve. It hit 450 users in its first week. The useful part is how: one typed list of everything the app can do, with every MCP tool generated from it, and a one-page handoff doc that Claude Code split into 12 pull requests.

Try itIn Claude, go to Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector, paste https://mcp.dreamworkhq.com/mcp and ask it to find roles matching your resume. Searching is free. Building your own? Write the handoff doc first and let Claude Code split it into one PR per feature.

An app that files your Mac's Downloads folder for you
Putaway reads the start of every file in Downloads (PDF text, OCR on scans and photos, Word, Excel), picks one of the folders you already have, and shows you the plan. Nothing moves until you click Move, and Undo puts it all back. By default it runs on Apple Intelligence, so nothing leaves your Mac, or you can point it at a local model.

GPT-Image-style photo editing on your own GPU
Kokon is a free, open-source desktop app that runs Qwen-Image 2.1 locally: type the change you want, or brush an area and pick Change, Remove, Replace or Add. On first run it detects your graphics card and downloads the right model files (about 12 GB), so there is no Python setup. An edit takes about 24 seconds on a 16 GB RTX 5070 Ti, and it ships an MCP server so your AI agent can edit images too.
