  • From the README
  • Any agent

Authorization notice. Hermes Speech is dual-use. Only use it on software, sites and systems you own or have explicit permission to test.

Voice cloning. Search can return voices that imitate real people, so use a voice only if you have the rights to use it for your purpose.

Who it is forA content creator or narrator who needs a voice with a specific tone, language, or accent and wants to hear options before choosing.

The problemBrowsing a large voice list by name is slow, and choosing a voice blind risks a poor fit for the audio.

The outcomeYou select a voice that matches your description after hearing a sample of it.

What you need first

  • Hermes Agent 0.20.0 or later
  • An AllModels account, created through the email signup the plugin starts when no ALLMODELS_API_KEY is set
  • Terminal access to run hermes plugins install, or a Hermes session where you can send the install message

Steps

  1. Run /speech tts voice search and describe the voice you want, for example British female narrator.
  2. Run /speech tts voice preview and add a short sample sentence to hear the candidate.
  3. Ask Hermes to switch to the voice you prefer, or repeat the search with different wording.
  4. Run /speech test Hello from Hermes to confirm the chosen voice plays through Hermes.

Prompt for your agent

Using the hermes-speech plugin from allmodels-io/hermes-speech, search for a voice that matches <target description> and preview one candidate. Expected output: a short MP3 sample returned through Hermes MEDIA delivery, with the configured voice unchanged. Verify that the preview did not change the configured TTS model, voice, speed, or format.

Caveat. Natural-language search runs on the AllModels server, so results depend on that catalogue at the time of the query.
