How to move profiles between machines and export cookies with Foxprofile

Export a profile as a ZIP and its cookies as cookies.txt for tools like yt-dlp or curl.

Authorization notice. Foxprofile is dual-use. Only use it on software, sites and systems you own or have explicit permission to test.

Credentials. Exported ZIP files and cookie files contain live session data, so store and share them only with people who should hold those logins.

Who it is forA user moving a set of profiles to a new computer, or a developer who needs a session's cookies for a download script.

The problemRebuilding profiles by hand loses their fingerprints and logins, and command-line tools need cookies in a specific format.

The outcomeA ZIP file holding the profile, with its fingerprint, that imports on another machine, plus a Netscape cookies.txt file for a download tool.

What you need first

  • Python 3.10 or newer
  • Windows, macOS or Linux
  • A few hundred MB of free disk space for Camoufox and the GeoIP database
  • A proxy per profile if you want a separate exit IP for each identity

Steps

  1. Stop the profile's browser, since cookie export needs it stopped
  2. Export the profile as a ZIP from the profile menu, choosing whether to include browser data
  3. Copy the ZIP to the new machine, install FoxProfile there, and import the ZIP
  4. Open Cookies & fingerprint for the profile and export cookies in Netscape cookies.txt format
  5. Pass the cookies.txt file to the download tool, for example yt-dlp or curl

Prompt for your agent

Using the repo chienbm98/foxprofile, export the profile <profile-name> as a ZIP and its cookies as Netscape cookies.txt. Return the file paths and the number of cookies exported. Verify that the profile's browser was stopped before the export.

Caveat. The README says the profile's browser must be stopped before cookies are read or written, and the fingerprint travels with the ZIP while the Chrome engine remains experimental.
