Who it is forA creator with no paid voice service who wants a narrated Vietnamese comparison short from the terminal.
The problemNarration usually needs a paid voice account, and the video timing has to match each spoken line.
The outcomeA rendered MP4 in the renders folder of the dev-vs-devops project, with voiceover timed from measured audio length.
What you need first
- Node.js 18 or newer
- FFmpeg and FFprobe available in PATH
- One TTS provider: VieNeu TTS (needs CIT Voice Studio running locally), Edge TTS (no API key), or Vbee TTS (needs App ID and Access Token)
- Optional: an AI coding agent such as Claude Code, Cursor or Codex to run the create-video skill
Steps
- Run
cp .env.example .envand set TTS_PROVIDER=edge in .env. - Run
cd videos/dev-vs-devops. (inferred, check the README) - Run
node scripts/generate-vo.mjsto create the voiceover files and durations.json. - Run
npm run devto preview the video in the local preview server. - Run
npm run renderto write the MP4 to renders/.
Prompt for your agent
In the auto-compare-video repo, set TTS_PROVIDER=edge in .env and generate the voiceover for videos/dev-vs-devops, then render it. Expected output: an MP4 in videos/dev-vs-devops/renders/ and assets/vo/durations.json with measured clip lengths. Verify that the render command finishes without errors and that the MP4 plays.
Caveat. The README says Edge TTS is free and needs no API key, but it does not describe any usage limits, so check the service before generating a large batch of videos.
