How to check delayed IHSG quotes and valuation from a terminal with Idx

Install Idx and pull delayed prices, P/E and dividend yield for several IDX tickers in one command.

Who it is forA retail investor in Indonesia who wants a fast look at a few IDX stocks before a trade and does not want to open a broker app.

The problemChecking several Indonesian stocks one by one on broker or news sites takes time, and the figures are scattered across pages.

The outcomeA table of price, change, volume, market cap, P/E and dividend yield for the tickers you name, plus the time of the last trade.

What you need first

  • Rust 1.88 or newer for cargo install, or Node.js and npm for the npm route
  • An internet connection for the first run (offline mode serves cached data only)
  • A terminal on Linux, macOS or Windows

Steps

  1. Run npm install -g github:fzn0x/idx or cargo install ihsg-cli to install the Idx command.
  2. Run idx stocks quote BBCA,BBRI,TLKM to see a table for three tickers.
  3. Read the footer line for the last trade time and whether the market is open, since the data is delayed.
  4. Run idx -o json stocks quote BBCA | jq '.data[0] | {price, change_pct, pe_trailing, dividend_yield_pct}' to pull only the fields you need into a script.

Prompt for your agent

Use the idx command from the fzn0x/idx repo to fetch quotes for <tickers such as BBCA,BBRI,TLKM> by running `idx -o json stocks quote <tickers>`. Return price, change percent, P/E and dividend yield for each ticker as a short list. Verify that the response includes a last trade timestamp and state that the data is delayed.

Caveat. Quotes are delayed and come from Yahoo Finance and MSN Money, so confirm the timestamp before acting on any price.
