Reverse engineering. This mode rebuilds another company's launch video frame by frame, so only use it on a video you have the right to study and never copy its music, voice or people photos.

Who it is forA marketer who has seen a launch video they want to match in pacing and structure, but needs their own product, brand and sound.

The problemMatching a reference video's timing by hand in an editor is slow, and small timing errors are easy to miss.

The outcomeA frame-locked remake for your brand plus an encoded split-screen that shows the original next to the new copy, with a stacked sync check.

What you need first

  • Claude Code installed, with a ~/.claude/skills folder you can write to
  • Python with pip
  • Chromium installed through Playwright
  • ffmpeg available from the command line
  • A brand folder with sourced facts about your product (the skill asks for these)

Steps

  1. Read the remake folder and its brief template at skill/motion-design/scripts/remake/ before you start.
  2. Supply the reference video and your own brand facts. Do not reuse the reference's music, voice or people photos.
  3. Run phase 0: extract every frame, detect cuts and write a shot-by-shot spec.
  4. Run phases 1 and 2: build the shared seek(F) engine, then the four build agents and the audio agent, checking each side-by-side compare sheet against the reference.
  5. Run phase 3: render the film, encode the split-screen and review the stacked sync check.

Prompt for your agent

Using the remake mode in the claude-motion-design skill, make a frame-locked remake of <reference video> for <brand name> with the brief in <brief file>. Expected output: a shot-by-shot spec, a rendered remake and a split-screen MP4 labelled original and new copy. Verify that no music, voice or people photos from the reference appear in the output.

Caveat. The README describes remake mode in outline only, so the exact commands and file layout must be read from the folder itself.
