How to re-cut one video into many languages with Hypit

Rewrite a line of narration in another language and let the timing re-flow.

Short answer: Run npx skills add hypit-ai/hypit -g to install the Hypit Skill; then start a session in your project directory and point the agent at the source video; run /hypit Clone this video: <path to video.mp4>, and translate all narration into <language>, keeping the same structure. All steps.

Authorization notice. Hypit is dual-use. Only use it on software, sites and systems you own or have explicit permission to test.

Voice cloning. If you replace the narrator's voice in each language, follow the voice and likeness rules of the speaker and the voice service you use.

Who it is forA global brand or creator who needs the same talking-head video in several languages.

The problemRe-timing captions and footage for each language is tedious, and small script edits break sync.

The outcomeLocalized versions of one composition where captions and cuts follow the rewritten words.

What you need first

  • A coding agent that Hypit supports, such as Claude Code or Codex
  • Node.js with npx available (inferred, since the install step uses npx)
  • A reference video file, only if you want to clone an existing video
  • Accounts and API keys for any generation model you choose; Hypit itself is free, but model services bill separately

Steps

  1. Run npx skills add hypit-ai/hypit -g to install the Hypit Skill.
  2. Start a session in your project directory and point the agent at the source video.
  3. Run /hypit Clone this video: <path to video.mp4>, and translate all narration into <language>, keeping the same structure. (inferred, check the README)
  4. Repeat the translation step for each target language in your list.
  5. Watch the captions in each output to confirm the timing follows the translated words.

Prompt for your agent

Using the hypit-ai/hypit repo, clone <path to video.mp4> and produce one localized composition per language in <list of languages>, with the narration rewritten and captions re-timed to the new words. Verify that the cut points still land on the same scene boundaries in every language.

Caveat. The README describes timing that re-flows from the words, but you still need to review each language because translation quality is outside what Hypit checks.
