Who it is forA person who suspects forgotten subscriptions are draining their account and wants a list with yearly totals.

The problemRecurring charges are spread across months and banks, so their total yearly cost is hard to see.

The outcomeA list of recurring payments with what each costs per year, based on your own transactions.

What you need first

  • A free Enable Banking account and an application with a key file (.pem)
  • Node 24 or newer for running on your own machine
  • A bank covered by Enable Banking (the README says 2,700+ European banks)
  • For hosted use: a container host with a persistent volume at /data and a public https address
  • Your MCP client, such as Claude Code, Claude Desktop or Cursor

Steps

  1. Connect BankMCP using claude mcp add bankmcp -- npx -y bankmcp or a hosted connector URL.
  2. Say "connect my bank" and approve the consent at your bank.
  3. Run the subscription-audit prompt on the account that pays the subscriptions.
  4. Ask the assistant to convert each monthly or annual charge into a yearly cost.

Prompt for your agent

Using the repo noskillish/bankmcp, run the subscription-audit prompt on the account labelled <account label>. Expected output: a list of recurring charges with yearly cost for each. Verify one charge against the matching line in get_transactions.

Caveat. The audit only sees transactions in the accounts you linked, so subscriptions paid from another account will not appear.
